Course related costs are prevalent, expensive, and often concealed; there is a clear association between high course costs and low wellbeing, as with high levels of accommodation and transport costs.

Student support One in three (33%) respondents agreed that they ‘find it easy to understand what financial support I am entitled to’. Students in further education were less clear (20%) about their financial support before they started their course Postgraduate students 37% Adult FE students were more likely (37%) to say that they were ‘not at all clear’

Student support 20% of Higher Education students had applied for discretionary funding from their institution. 15% of those in Further Education. 14% undergraduates received an institutional bursary or scholarship, 17 % postgraduates 7% of students in Further Education received a bursary or scholarship.
