2. Introduction
UoM is the main public university in Mauritius, created since 1965.
Six Faculties:
Agriculture;
Social Studies & Humanities;
Engineering;
Science;
Law & Management;
Ocean Studies (since 2014)

3. Why are we here?
UoM will be partnering with the National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Centre (NDRRMC), Ministry of Environment, Sustainable Development, and Disaster and Beach Management - MESA-FLOOD project as from 2016.
NDRRMC – focal point
UoM – In charge of training and research to build capacity in water related risks and disasters.

Teaching – Existing Modules & Short professional courses (Use of teaching materials – MESA & SANSA)
Research – Mauritius being small, there will be a need to refine the numerical model developed under the MESA project for Mauritius – at catchment and sub catchment levels.
There will be need for model calibration and validation with on site field data – in collaboration with NDRRMC.
