3 Philosophy of Education
All students have the right to equal access to a rigorous, meaningful education All students have the right to access the resources, materials, technology and participation necessary to be successful in class Students learn differently and therefore different teaching methods should be applied in class to activate students’ various learning styles The ANSWER is not always the goal – sometimes the PROCESS to get the answer is more valuable

4 Course Objectives: Introductory through intermediate/advanced course in 2d Studio Art, focusing primarily on Drawing, Painting, Illustration, and Printmaking Think Differently, problem solve Use critical thinking processes for multiple solutions to a ‘problem’ Learn about medium, materials, techniques Engage in discussions and critiques authentically Understand and apply processes and techniques in creating original works of art Learn about fields of study and careers in visual arts Lean about Art History, and the social and cultural impact of Art in our world Learn about the art of people and cultures around the world Understand and explore the role of Artist as agent for social change Make connections between art and history, politics, culture and our perception of beauty or entertainment MAKE ART!

5 Course Objectives Throughout the course students will have the opportunity to: Creating a body of original work Engaging in discussions and critiques Creating a digital and/or traditional portfolio Experiencing guest artists and speakers Visiting galleries or museums Using a variety of medium, materials and techniques

Notebook/sketchbook Paint brushes (optional) Flash Drive(optional)
