A hearty lover of him, was zealously attached to him, and followed him to the last. Three Marys are follows Christ to the cross, and standing by it, when all his disciples forsook him and fled.
These women teach us to view our sins laid upon him, and taken away by him, looking unto him for salvation.

Early on the first day of the week, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene went to the tomb and saw that the stone had been removed from the entrance.

Mary's coming so early to the grave, shows her great love and affection to Christ. Joseph rolled the stone over the tomb, the Pharisees sealed it, and they set a watch to guard it. The stone was removed by an angel from heaven. The greatest sinners, when converted, are the most humble and willing servants of Christ.

8. Weeping
The body of her dear Lord was taken away. She was prevented of showing it respect and the dignity Jesus deserved. As she gazes through her tears on the open tomb, she feared the body of Christ would be insulted and abused by wicked men. Her heart was ready to break with sorrow: a wounded spirit who can bear?

This they to comfort her for her grief. She opened her case, “They have taken away my Lord, and I know not where they have laid him.” Only knowing where Jesus was could dry her tears.

She was not expecting to see him. It was yet also twilight, and she could not see distinctly. This was a manifestation made of "spiritual body" to a human being.
Later, the eyes of Cleophas and his friend would be forbidden to see Jesus, even though their hearts were burning. Those who traveled with Paul to Damascus saw a light and heard a sound, but they did not see nor did they hear what the apostle saw and heard.

Christ's way of making himself known to his people is by his word. His word applies to their souls, speaking to them comfort and healing.

He knew her whole past and He knew her devotion to Him. He gave her freedom from the demons that held her captive. The voice of God is always heard by the hearts of them that love Him. The presence of God felt in the utter helplessness of human woe.
Mary cried, Rabboni, which is to say, Master.
