“What In The World Are We Doing”?
John 16:5-33 “What In The World Are We Doing”?

John 15:26-27 “But when the Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify of Me. And you also will testify, because you have been with Me from the beginning.

John 16:5-7 “But now I am going to Him who sent Me; and none of you asks Me, ‘Where are You going?’ But because I have said these things to you, sorrow has filled your heart. But I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I go, I will send Him to you.”

Hebrews 9:11-12 “When Christ came as high priest of the good things that are already here, He went through the greater and more perfect tabernacle that is not man-made, that is to say, not a part of this creation. He did not enter by means of the blood of goats and calves; but He entered the Most Holy Place once for all by His own blood, having obtained eternal redemption.”

John 16:8-11 “And He, when He comes, will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment; concerning sin, because they do not believe in Me; and concerning righteousness, because I go to the Father and you no longer see Me; and concerning judgment, because the ruler of this world has been judged.”

Acts 2:22-42 Please Turn In Your Bibles Acts 24:25 As he reasoned with them about righteousness and self-control and the coming day of judgment, Felix became frightened. “Go away for now,” he replied. “When it is more convenient, I’ll call for you again.”

“Concerning Sin…” “The Spirit would not just accuse people of sin, but would bring an inescapable sense of guilt before God upon them. This sense of guilt is an indispensable prerequisite for salvation.” Tom Constable

William Hendricksen “Through the work of witnessing, the Holy Spirit will not only lay bare the world’s sin but in the case of some will awaken a consciousness of guilt which leads to true repentance. There will be genuine sorrow and a fleeing to the Savior for refuge and pardon; true conversion.”

“Concerning Righteousness”
“The Holy Spirit shows all people that Christ alone provides the standard of God’s righteousness. The Holy Spirit must make unbelievers recognize God’s perfect standard before they will admit their own deficiency. As long as people can maintain the idea that God is somehow less than perfect, they can hide from their own condition…

The Holy Spirit lifts that veil and displays to the human heart God’s holiness. The Spirit will also show the world the futility of religious self-righteousness. He shows the inadequacy of ceremony and ritual in making one right with God.” Bruce Barton

2 Corinthians 5:21 “God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God.”

J. Vernon McGee “Jesus Christ returned to the Father because He had completed His work here. When He died on the cross, He died a judgment death. He took our guilt and He died in our place. He was delivered for our offenses. But He was raised for our justification...

He was raised from the dead that we might not only have our sins subtracted, but so that we might have His righteousness added. It is not enough to have our sins forgiven. We cannot stand in God’s presence if we are nothing more than pardoned criminals. Christ has given us His righteousness.”

“…because the ruler of this world has been judged.”
Concerning Judgment “…because the ruler of this world has been judged.”

“…it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment…”
Hebrews 9:27 “…it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment…”

John 8:44 “…He was a murderer from the beginning. He has always hated the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, it is consistent with his character; for he is a liar and the father of lies.”

1 John 3:8 “…the devil has sinned from the beginning. The Son of God appeared for this purpose, to destroy the works of the devil.”

Please Turn In Your Bibles
Revelation 20:7-10 Please Turn In Your Bibles

1 Peter 5:8-9 “Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. Stand firm against him, and be strong in your faith.”

1 John 4:4 “But you belong to God, my dear children. You have already won a victory over those people, because the Spirit who lives in you is greater than the spirit who lives in the world.”

2 Corinthians 2:14-16 “To those who are perishing, we are a dreadful smell of death and doom. But to those who are being saved, we are a life-giving perfume. And who is adequate for such a task as this?”

John 16:13 “But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come.”

Proverbs 9:10 “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.”

Romans 8:12-14 “Therefore, brethren, we are debtors—not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh. For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.”

Philippians 2:12-13 “…work out your own salvation with fear and trembling; for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure.”

Galatians 5:22-23 “But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.”

John 15:26-27 “But when the Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify of Me. And you also will testify, because you have been with Me from the beginning.

John 16:33 “These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world.”
