Q&A #10 Delaware Avenue states that the CB on East River Road needs to be cleaned out East River Road is a Monroe County road. As such, Monroe County has been contacted to maintain or repair storm inlets along East River Road. Contact info is available on their website. Q&A Does the project include cleaning the ditch similar to the cleaning that was completed in the 90’s? Monroe County conducted a survey of the ditch in February Further analysis of the drainage ditch concluded that reconstruction or maintenance in this area would be ineffective to improve the roadway drainage because the topography in the area is relatively flat. Q&A Where does the water go from Delaware Ave.? All stormwater from Delaware Ave. ends up in the Genesee River. East side of the street drains into Remington Creek and through the drainage system into the River. Q&A Who owns the drainage ditch along the railroad? The majority of the ditch is located in a designated wetland area and the State or Federal agencies have jurisdiction. Q&A The ditch along the railroad needs to be cleaned and maintained to keep drainage flowing towards river The Town contacted CSX. Several months of and phone exchanges finally resulted in an agreement. CSX has removed and properly disposed of the fallen trees, trash, and vegetative debris from the ditch. Q&A Can the elevation of the Genesee River be lowered to facilitate better drainage? The water level is controlled by the Court Street Dam. The Court Street Dam functions to regulate water levels during navigation season and to furnish water for the hydroelectric plant. Q&A Will sanitary sewers be extended to Bronx Drive, Riverside Drive, Remington Parkway, and Delaware Drive? A Sanitary Sewer Study is in progress for West Brighton. A plan to accommodate the greater West Brighton area with access to the Brighton Consolidated sewer district will require a financial commitment by all beneficiaries of these district extensions.
