2. Teacher Notes: Steps
General Instructions
Example (People who read Life of Pi are going to be experts at Great expectations-and vice versa)
Assign new books students will become “experts” in
Students will read the summary of the new book they will be an “expert” at and take notes
Students will take notes (whatever they deem important) as that group presents the book they are going to be an “expert” in
Students will take a quiz on a book they are now an expert on
Quizzes are written by the students who read that book
People who read Life of Pi will become experts at Great Expectations
People who read Life of Pi will read the summary of Great Expectations (packet on the shared drive)
As Great Expectation groups present, Life of Pi readers will take notes on whatever they believe is important
Great Expectation groups will write a quiz for Life of Pi readers
Life of Pi readers will take the Great Expectation groups

5. Expert Groups
Whatever book is your “expert group” is what you will become an expert in
Example: People who read Great Expectations will now become experts at Life of Pi, and people who read Life of Pi will become experts at Great Expectations

6. Novel Summary
Read the novel summary of the book you will become an expert in

7. Take Notes During the summary video During the poster presentation
Whatever you believe is the most important
Have a total of at least 10 facts

8. Test your partner group:
Write your own test for them:
2 multiple choice questions (4 options)
4 matching questions (must provide a word bank)
4 your choice of questions (the following are possibilities)
Who said what quotes
Short answer
Fill in the blank
Figurative language
Make a key on a separate piece of paper
Remember to be (kind of) nice
Add an essay prompt
How long it has to be
Make sure it’s open ended
NOT “What was your favorite character?”
Give a general correct answer (doesn’t have to be an entire essay)
Example: If you read Great Expectations, write a test about Life of Pi for the Life of Pi group to take.

9. Take the test! Do not write on their test!
Answer 10 questions on a different piece of paper
(If there are more you have more options to pick from!)
If there are not 10, write your own questions (easy
Give me your answer sheet and the test when you are done
The other group will grade your test
