Who wants to be an LGBTaire?
At this point, you need to put delegates into groups, 4 groups are needed, so it should be groups of 4 – 5, depending on numbers. Give the team names of famous LGBT people – Suggestions are: Dusty Springfield (lesbian singer in the 60s, son of a preacher man, you don’t have to say you love me), Graham Norton (Gay Comedian, TV Presenter), Nadia Almada (Big Brother contestant in 2004, first trans woman to enter the BB House), Angelina Jolie (Bisexual Hollywood actress – tombraider, girl interrupted), Stephen Fry (Gay British writer, actor, comedian and presenter) Rudy Galindo (Gay American ice-skater), Jean-Paul Gaultier (Gay French fashion designer and TV presenter) Martina Navratilova (lesbian tennis player), Gok Wan (gay fashion designer and presenter), Alice Walker (bisexual author of the colour purple and you can’t keep a good woman down) and Pete Wentz (bisexual lead singer of Fall out Boy). Rules of the Game Your team has to answer 5 questions on LGBT History.
You have 3 lifelines: 1 – Phone a committee member – This is where you have the opportunity to ask a member of the National LGBT Committee what they think the answer is 2 – 50/50 – We will take away 2 of the 4 possible answers, narrowing down the choice of answers 3 – Ask the audience – We will ask the audience which answer they think is right by a show of hands Each group will have to answer up to 5 questions on LGBT History. These questions will be about the law, defining moments in history, famous LGBT people and NUS LGBT. There are 4 possible answers, labelled A-D and they have to pick as a team which one they think is right. Talk them through the 3 lifelines, introduce the committee member in the room and explain to the audience that if the group playing would like to ask the audience, then they will need to do a show of hands to identify which one they think is the answer – you will need to call out A to D if this is a lifeline a group picks.
