Welcome Class of 2021! Congratulations… REGISTRATION
You have made it through Junior High, now what? Let us help you “bridge” the transition gap between 8th and 9th grade through “ Summer Bridge”. This year we continue freshman week, called Summer Bridge is JFK’s week-long freshman transition program for incoming 9th grade students from August 14 – 18th. Students will be exposed to JFK expectations. Grade nine general student- orientation day is August 23, 2017 from 8am – 4pm. Why attend JFK Summer Bridge? For some students, entering high school can be fun and exciting, but for others it is nerve-racking and scary. Summer Bridge is for incoming 9th grade students to get acclimated to campus life/expectations, learn useful techniques taught at JFK, make friends, and calm fears about this transition. The four days of Summer Bridge help to close some gaps and calm some fears. Students will take four classes from 9 am to 12:35 pm. REGISTRATION To register your student please contact: Nicole Lavaud at or fill out the application in this packet. All applications are due by June 16, 2017 by 12:00pm. The courses are listed below in the boxes. Course A: Get to know JFK Course B: How to Successfully… Course C: Math Course D: English Reviews graduation and A-G requirements and refines students 4-year plan. Counselors talk about the mental pressure students face and how to deal. The week will end with learning about different programs at JFK and how to get involved. Covers JFK’s Big 3 (Cornell notes, Annotation, and compare and contrast) Claim, evidence and reason (CER). This is taught by one of our avid teachers Basic review of number sense, and pre-algebra. introduction into JFK’s mathematics philosophy. - Reviews reading and writing strategies used in English 9/Academic Literacy and English 9H.
