After a successful trial WAST has decided to introduce a Handheld Communication device The device is an Android smartphone With a Terrafix Application and CoPilot mapping system pre-loaded It contains a roaming SIM card enabling connection to one of the four major network providers Restricted phone numbers e.g. CFR Dispatch desk, Clinical Contact Centre Clinical desk, Wellbeing service. Automatic allocation if you are the nearest suitable resource (switch on date to be confirmed)

6 Getting Started Open CoPilot app first
Wait for the device to locate your GPS signal 6

7 Logging on Open ‘Responder’ app Press ‘Enter’ to connect to server
Enter PIN for each CFR (maximum of two CFR’s) Press ‘Sign-on’ Open ‘Responder’ Explain that if your PIN is not recognized by our CCC the device will not be activated. If the PIN is already in use on a call-sign then it wont be recognized – i.e. don’t log onto your normal call-sign by phone and then try and log on to this device which has a different call-sign If the phone is lost WAST and Terrafix can lock down the phone.

Terrafix is used on all frontline EMS resources (Helicopter, RRV, HART and EMS ambulances. 9

11 Going Mobile to Incident
Press the bottom right ‘hard Key’ (return to status screen) Long press ‘Mobile’ (which is now green, Co-Pilot will automatically open) Press the bottom right hand button to return to the status screen. Press the “Mobile Button” which is set as green. It will turn red and then back to green. This informs the CCC of your current status. 11

13 Important Safety Message !
Using mobile phones when driving: the law It is illegal to ride a motorcycle or drive using handheld phones or similar devices. The rules are the same if you are stopped at traffic lights or queuing in traffic. Important Safety Message ! Using hands-free devices when driving You can use hands-free phones, sat navs and 2-way radios when you are driving or riding. But if the police think you are distracted and not in control of your vehicle you could still get stopped and penalised.

You can press the ‘Emergency’ button Confirm Emergency Wait for confirmation CCC are now aware you require assistance Explain that the mobile phone is part of the devices used by Terrafix and other organizations. Press Hard Key (bottom right of device) to return to previous page Always use ‘Clear’ (long hold) when you leave the incident (never press ‘Leaving Scene’) 17
