1 MATCH PLAY - TEAM

2 What is the Team Match Play?
The team match play differs from the individual match play by having three archers (two for mixed team) acting as one unit, shooting one by one within a short time frame, and who are depending on each other as “a team” The recurve team match play consists of maximum of 4 sets of 6 arrows (4 arrows for mixed team), two by each archer, where a team wins the match by scoring  5 set points The compound team match play consists of 4 ends of 6 arrows(4 arrows for mixed team), two by each archer, where a team with higher cumulative score wins the match 16 teams proceed from the Qualification to the Elimination round. The team match play starts from the Elimination Round

3 What is the Team Match Play?
In the Elimination Round the teams shoot simultaneously, while in the Finals Round they shoot alternately (World Championships) Simultaneous shooting: The team may rotate their shooting according to their own preference, shooting one or two arrows when on the line, but every archer needs to shoot 2 arrows in every set / end Alternate shooting: The team shoots 3 arrows (2 for mixed team), one by each archer, then the time stops and the other team shoots three arrows. This routine is then repeated to finish the 6 arrows set / end (4 for mixed team) In both the cases, if an archer fails to shoot 2 arrows, the un-shot arrow still counts as a part of the set/end & is scored as M

4 What is the Team Match Play?
After the individual competition, the teams are seeded according to their position in the Qualification Round Scores of top 3 athletes are taken to obtain team score In case of Mixed Team, highest scores of male & female archers from the qualification round are considered Substitution is allowed provided it is submitted to the CoJ one hour before the match Byes are permitted, teams may practice in their assigned targets (For Recurve – practice is restricted to first 3 sets) During match play, target assignment of the teams will follow the match –play chart as shown in Book 2 of the C&R

5 Position of the Judge:

6 Compound Team Shoot -off
Target Setups: Compound Team Match Recurve Team Match Compound Team Shoot -off

7 Team Match Play – Particular Rules
The Teams (the archers) are still in their box behind the one meter line until the start shooting signal is given There is a time penalty, causing the archer moving forward to go back and “start over” if: An archer moves beyond the one meter line before the start signal An archer moves beyond the one meter line before the previous archer has crossed the line on his way back from the shooting line An archer removes his arrow from the quiver (point of the arrow visible) before he is straddling the shooting line A compound archer crossing the 1m line with release aid “nocked” on the string 7

8 Team Match Play – Particular Rules
If a time penalty is given, the judge’s procedure will be as follows: He will raise the yellow card and call the name of the team loudly and clearly If the team does not react to the yellow card and thus shoots the arrow, the judge will raise the red card and the deduction of the highest score of the team will take place. 8

9 Team Match Play – Particular Rules
In case of alternate shooting only, if an archer by mistake shoots 2 arrows in one phase of the rotation The team will loose the highest score of the end/set The judge will signal the same by showing red card Clock will be stopped only after other 2 archers have shot 1 arrow each The archer, who has shot an extra arrow in the 1st rotation, will not shoot in the 2nd rotation – to avoid the issue of having 7 arrows In case if another archer can not shoot his/her 2 arrows because of the above, then the un-shot arrow will count as a part of the set/end and will score as M 9

10 Team Match Play – Particular Rules
For Compound, there should be 3 arrows in each target face. The archers are free to choose any combination of faces, but at the end of the “end”, each target face needs to have 3 arrows. In case if a team shoots more than 3 arrows in one target face then scoring will be done according to the “multiple arrow in one target” error of indoor archery, i.e., the highest scoring arrow will become a Miss and then normal scoring takes place. M 10

11 Team Match Play – Shoot-off
Elimination Round In the event of a shoot-off during the elimination round, the teams will have one minute (60 sec.) to shoot three arrows, one archer at a time shooting his arrow. The teams shoot simultaneously. Finals Round In the finals round, when the teams shoot alternately, each team shoots one arrow in alteration. * Team A one arrow, team B one arrow etc. (A-B-A-B-A-B) 11

12 Team Match Play – Shoot-off
Scoring during a shoot-off During a shoot-off ( elimination and finals rounds), the team shooting the highest score wins. If the teams both have the same score, then: The team with the arrow closest to the centre wins. If they are still tied, then the team with the second closest to centre arrow wins (and possibly the 3rd arrow closest to centre if necessary). 12
