2. The 2017 Golden Globe Awards were held Sunday night at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California. Now in its 74th year, the Golden Globes honor the best in film and television. Jimmy Fallon hosted the show. La La Land set a new Globes record by winning all seven of its nominations, including Best Motion Picture, Comedy or Musical. Co-stars Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone took home both best acting nods in Comedy. In the animation category, Zootopia won Best Animated Film over Kubo and the Two Strings, My Life As A Zucchini, Moana, and Sing. The awards are selected by the 93 members of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association recognizing excellence in film and television, both domestic and foreign. The annual formal ceremony and dinner at which the awards are presented are a major part of the film industry's awards season, which culminates each year with the Academy Awards.

French police have detained 16 people for questioning over the armed robbery of Kim Kardashian West in Paris last October. Kardashian West was robbed at gunpoint by a gang of men who made off with an estimated $10 million in cash and jewelry.
McDonald's is selling off most of its China business in a deal worth as much as $2.1 billion. Citic, a massive Chinese financial firm, is taking the majority stake in McDonald's operations in mainland China and Hong Kong. McDonald's will hold the remaining 20% of the business. McDonald's CEO Steve Easterbrook said the fast food company's new partners would bring a better understanding of the Chinese market. The deal is the latest move in Easterbrook's efforts to overhaul the global burger chain. In the U.S., it has launched more customized sandwiches with fancier ingredients, introduced all-day breakfast to the menu and brought in touch screens and table service.
An assistant coach for the Pittsburgh Steelers faces aggravated assault and other charges after an altercation at a local bar Sunday night following the team's AFC wild-card win over the Miami Dolphins. Joey Porter, 39, was taken into custody after he allegedly assaulted a doorman at a bar in Pittsburgh. Porter is charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, resisting arrest and public drunkenness.
Two bills that put tighter restrictions on abortion are one step closer to becoming law in Kentucky, both heading to the governor's desk for final approval after being passed by the Republican-led state Legislature on Saturday. House Bill 2 requires a physician or technician to perform an ultrasound, describe and display the ultrasound images to the mother, and provide audio of the fetal heartbeat to the mother before she may have an abortion. The text of the bill says the pregnant woman may choose to avert her eyes from the images, and request the volume of the heartbeat be turned down or off. Senate Bill 5 prohibits abortions in the state at or after 20 weeks of pregnancy. The bill would not apply in cases where an abortion is required to save the life of the mother or prevent serious risk of bodily harm to the mother, but it does not contain exceptions for cases of rape or incest.
