2.SL.5 Create audio recordings of stories or poems; add drawings or other visual displays to stories or recounts of experiences when appropriate to clarify ideas, thoughts, and feelings. 2.RI.3 Describe the connection between a series of historical events, scientific ideas or concepts, or steps in technical procedures in a text. 2.RI.5 know and use various text features (e.g. captions, bold print, subheadings, glossaries, indexes, electronic menus, icons) to locate key facts or information in a text efficiently.

11 Step 1 - Organization Class Research Topic – Assign each student a different sub-topic. i.e. – Space (Topic); Saturn (Sub-Topic) Assign each student an individual folder. Research Internet for subject matter. Include important points only – Summary. Different websites. Research is part of the learning experience. Give students choice. I recommend saving to Desktop. Be certain to back up your work.

12 Step 2 – Create a PowerPoint
Power Point – Simple or Advanced Create a Title Slide for each student. (Consistency between students) Add pictures. Be sure to copy URL of each site you use for source citing. Add student name, initials, and/or picture. Be comfortable with what you put on. Be certain you have signed permission. **IMPORTANT: When you have a completed PowerPoint … 4. Save as: JPEG File Interchange – This saves each slide individually. “Save As Type;” - Drop Down Menu Choose – “JPEG File Interchange” It will ask question – You want to save current or every slide. Choose – “Every Slide in Presentation”

13 Step 3 – Recording Audio Choose a voice recorder on your computer.
Record students’ narration. Rename narrations and save to students’ file.

14 Step 4 – Create Movie “Add Video or Photos”
1. Open Windows Movie Maker. “Add Video or Photos” Locate PPT files of each student Pull pictures into timeline *IMPORTANT - After pictures (of all students) have been added, add title, credits, and transitions. Once this is in place, you are ready to add audio.

15 Step 5 – Add Audio to Movie
Find the slide you want to add narration to and click on it. On home tab in Movie Maker click on “Add Music” “At the Current Location” Find the student file saved to your desktop and add it to that location.

16 Step 5a – Continued/Audio
In Movie Maker, locate the green music bar. Hover over the end to find the length of the narration. Go to “Edit Video Tools”. Under “Duration” change the time to that of the audio recording. Note: Be sure to save often under the “File” bar in WMM.

17 Step 6 – Publish/Save Movie
“Publish Movie” “Recommended Setting” (This will take a few minutes.) “Publish Movie” “YouTube” (or to Podcasting Site)

18 Step 7 – Publish Podcast to the Web
Congratulations! You are now ready to publish your podcast. Set up a free account at “Publish” “Podcast” “Create”
