Forms of Violence Physical Abuse: intentionally causing physical harm to another person Sexual Abuse: making someone perform a sexual action without complete consent Mental Abuse: nonphysical mistreatment of a person Neglect: when adults fail to provide for the basic needs of children

Warning signs Inflicting physical force such as grabbing, pushing, or hitting Spreading rumors or making false accusations Pressure to have sex Threats and intimidation History of violence Constant Insults or put-downs Extreme Jealously Explosive Temper Keeping you from seeing or talking with family or friends Telling you what you can/can’t do Possessive or controlling behavior

SO REMEMBER: No matter how good your intentions are, you should NEVER force someone to leave an abusive relationship. Instead, the most important thing to do is listen, be supportive, and avoid judgement.

Does your boyfriend or girlfriend… Say you’re involved in too many activities? Text or call you all the time? Get jealous easily? Accuse you of flirting or cheating? Check up on you constantly or expects you to check in with him/her all the time? If you answer YES to ANY of these questions, you might be in an unhealthy relationship.
