Pumped Discharge. Brian Makin 14/062003
2
Normal sewage system relies on gravity to help the system work
Sewage flows from the fixture to the discharge pipe. Discharge pipe discharges it’s sewage to the sewer main.
3
Normal Sewer System Uses Gravity to Help the System Work
4
Pumping equipment must be used to raise the sewage to the main sewer.
Pumped Discharge When the fixtures are located in a basement or are below main sewer connection point. Pumping equipment must be used to raise the sewage to the main sewer.
5
Compressed Air Sewerage Ejector
Is one of the pumping systems that can be used.
6
Compressed Air Sewage Ejector
Used to move sewage that is below main sewer. Industrial & commercial. Hospital / high rise buildings etc.
7
Compressed Air Sewerage Ejector is used when there are Fixtures Below the Normal Sewerage Main….Basement

Compressed Air Sewerage Ejector:- Part Names
A Base B outlet pipe. C outlet gate valve. D ejector pot. E compressor vent pipe. F outlet check valve. G inlet pipe. H compressor. I inlet check valve. J float switch. K inlet gate valve.
12
Sewage which is discharged from the below ground fixtures ,( basement) flows by gravity to a drain which is connected to the compressed air sewerage ejector.
13
The sewage now enters the pipe work of ejector and starts to fill up the pot.
The pot acts as a reservoirs for storage of the waste.
14
Ejector Pot continuous to fill as more sewage is discharged from the basement fixtures.
15
Air in the pot is vented out through the compressor vent pipe to atmosphere ,allowing the pot completely fill.
16
Ejector pot fill to a pre-determined point which raises the float switch ,and starts the compressor. Air is drawn down compressor vent pipe.
17
As the air pressure builds up in the top of ejector pot, it starts to over come the static head pressure of the outlet pipe and bends. The sewage is pushed out of the ejector pot ,closing the inlet check valve Opening the outlet check valve , pushing the sewage out of the pot into the outlet pipe which is connected to the sewer main or boundary trap shaft.
18
The compressor runs for a preset time of approximitly 30seconds and produce enough air pressure to empty the ejector pot.
19
The compressed air ejector can raise sewage
from 3metres to 30metres vertical height. The air pressure used to empty the ejector pot, Will vary depending on the vertical height + frictional resistance of the pipe work.
20
Once the compressor is switch off, the pressure in the pot is equalizing by the pot vent .
Sewage is now allow to discharged from the below ground fixtures , ( basement) which flows by gravity to a drain which is connected to the compressed air sewerage ejector. Outlet check valve closes due to the weight of the sewage in the outlet pipe.
21
Compressor air sewerage ejector now starts the next filling cycle.
Units are available with capacities ranging from :- 600lts to 1350lts per minute.
