Grace Fellowship Church
Pastor/Teacher - Jim Rickard Thursday, October 17, 2013 Title Page Below are some simple instructions on how to use this template: 1. You can change the text in the graphical screen above or in the outline area to the left. 2. There is one default background that is indicated by “ ” .This slide acts as a space or a blank screen, use to clear or blank the screen. If you have a large graphic such as a map you could also use this screen. If you insert a new slide you will get this default background. 3. The first five slides have the other backgrounds for the set. To use more than one of these background types in your presentation highlight the one you wish to use and choose copy from the edit menu. Paste this slide where you want it to appear in your presentation, then change the text on this new slide. By copy/pasting the slide in this manor you will keep the background, text formatting and the customized animation from that slide. By using the copy/paste method you find it saves you time and keeps a consistent look through out your presentation. 4.There are a few additional notes written in the slide text wording that may be helpful. Note: We are working on a website that in the future will provide help topics on using sermon outlines in PowerPoint as well as provide sermon templates similar to this one. Check for more information.

Prov 11:9

Prov 11:9 “Godless man” CHANEPH, חָנֵף, “Profane, filthy, impious, impure, hypocritical or godless.”

This person is hypocritical when he professes godliness but acts in godless or sinful ways. We call this “two faced.”

Job 8:13, “So are the paths of all who forget God; and the hope of the godless will perish.”

Hypocrites prove destructive to their neighbors by the use of sins of the tongue.

“Destroys” - SHACHATH, שָׁחַת The hypocrite will cause his neighbors to be destroyed, ruined, ravaged, corrupted, or to decay.

In Prov 6:32, the one living inside of Satan’s cosmic system corrupts his own soul, but here the damage goes further, corrupting his “neighbors”, REA, רֵעַ, “kinsman, fellow countryman, or friend.”

This also includes business and political leaders
This also includes business and political leaders. If they are “slick talking” leaders the righteous will see right through them.

The Contrast!

The Contrast! The “righteous” who have God’s Word and apply it will not be overtaken by the hypocritical believer and their sinful ways.

Our only defense against sin and Satan’s cosmic system is to have doctrine on the right lobe of our souls.

Any success the hypocritical believer has will only be temporary. Cf
Any success the hypocritical believer has will only be temporary. Cf. Prov 12:6, 13; 14:3.

Prov 12:6, “The words of the wicked lie in wait for blood, but the mouth of the upright will deliver them.”

Prov 12:13, “An evil man is ensnared by the transgression of his lips, but the righteous will escape from trouble.”

Prov 14:3, “In the mouth of the foolish is a rod for his back, but the lips of the wise will protect them.”

Prov 11:10

Prov 11:10 Here the impact or consequences escalate from the individual one on one relationship to the entire community. Cf. Prov 28:12; 29:2.

Prov 29:2, “When the righteous increase, the people rejoice, but when a wicked man rules, people groan.”

“Rejoices” - ALATS, עָלַץ, “Will rejoice or exult
“Rejoices” - ALATS, עָלַץ, “Will rejoice or exult.” A poetic comparison with CHALATS – delivered and ALATS – rejoicing.

When you are delivered from evil because of God’s Word in your soul you will also rejoice.

The context of ALATS is victory that comes as a result of dependence upon God, whose end result always gives God’s people reason to rejoice.

Prov 28:12, “When the righteous triumph (ALATS), there is great glory, but when the wicked rise, men hide themselves.”

Double Emphasis!

Double Emphasis! The death of an evil man who has brought ruin to a city causes the righteous to rejoice as Divine justice prevailed and delivered them from evil.

It gives great detail to Prov 10:28, “The hope of the righteous is gladness, but the expectation of the wicked perishes.”

Prov 29:2, “When the righteous increase, the people rejoice, but when a wicked man rules, people groan.”

This double positive speaks to the outward expression of the soul of the righteous believer when they have good leaders or heads of business and when evil ones die.
