5 SAP BW on HANA, Edition, and BW4HANA
There is a difference between BW 7.5 Powered by HANA Edition for SAP HANA BW4HANA. You can migrate objects manual or through the transfer tool. This is compatibility mode plus objects transferred, using the transfer tool and the execution of RS_B4HANA_CHECK_ENABLE report in the “Save New Mode”. 5

6 Getting to BW4HANA Getting there: you can use DMO or traditional upgrades (in-place) as a migration option. 6

7 An Architected Data Mart on SAP BW on HANA
Real Example This application was built on SAP S/4 on HANA application (transaction system) SAP BW/4HANA (data warehouse) Design Studio 1.6 (dashboarding tool) The key idea is to leverage SAP technology to its fullest, so that customers with SAP ECC, SoH or S/4, as their transaction system can easily install the solution 7

8 An Architected Data Mart on SAP BW on HANA
Real Example

9 Leveraging Fast Advanced DataStore Objects in SAP (ADSO)
Real Example Data is stored in Advanced DataStore objects in the data warehouse (SAP BW) Some are standard content is SAP, while others are extended data stores for tax specific data Using BW DataStore that customer’s IT staff are already familiar with, the data integration can easily be extended to any clients specific needs

10 An Architected Data Mart on SAP BW on HANA
Data mapping is using standard SAP tools and pre-delivered content. Additional user mapping of accounts (CoA) is available in the application. Real Example During upgrades of the SAP system, data mapping is taken care of standard BW content, and only client specific mapping is done by the users in the application

11 An XS application on HANA to add Comments to Dashboards
Real Example Using an XS application on SAP HANA users can add comments and Insights directly into any dashboard The dashboards are collaborative tools for sharing of Insights between analysts, management and executives.

12 Cool Features: The SAP XS Comment Application
The comment section are developed as an SAP XS on HANA application that can be tailored to specific client needs The standard Development Workbench for SAP HANA is used so that additional features can be quickly added

13 An Architected Data Mart on SAP BW on HANA
Real Example By using standard BW queries that SAP customers are already familiar with, data can easily be extended to any clients specific needs The queries are built on the standard BW query tool from the HANA studio

14 Cool Feature: Table Toggle and Download to Excel, CSV or PDF
For all dashboards user can toggle between graphs and detailed data tables Data can be exported to Excel, CSV, printed as a PDF or sent by as an attachment Users always have access to the underlying data for any graphs or map in the application

15 Ad-hoc querying in Design Studio on HANA
Real Example By using a BW Query that expose all fields in the underlying CompositeProvider in HANA, users have access to all data and can built their own reports on-the-fly Ad-Hoc User defined Reporting Reports can be built by end users by simply clicking and dragging the fields into the report

16 Cool HANA Features: Access to Financial Data at Detailed Levels
Summary graphs of sub-totals With the speed of SAP HANA, access to billions of records are executed in 1-3 seconds. Therefore, the application can provide access to all details. Drill down to details Users can add comments and observations The whole Chart-of-Accounts (CoA) with 10,000+ accounts and 200 million+ rows is available in the drill-down and data is read at the detailed level in sub-second speed

18 HANA Live Overview SAP HANA Live is targeted to those companies that run SAP Business Suite applications on SAP HANA. The views inside can also be combined with data from non-SAP applications. Installing the HANA Live system on your transaction system can be done in a matter of hours

19 The SAP HANA Live Browser
To make it easier to locate and understand the views, SAP has created an SAP HANA Live browser tool. Basically, this web page provides information about all the content available after you have installed SAP HANA Live on your transaction system The HANA Live browser can be accessed by navigating to in your web browser

20 Example: Extending a HANA Live View
To avoid affecting the many sub- components in the VDMs, you have to cover some basics before beginning any enhancements. For example, when creating a new information view within SAP HANA studio, there is a Copy From: option to that you should select By using this option, you can copy a standard pre-delivered SAP HANA Live view and then extend it.

21 SAP Live Extension Assistant
SAP offers a tool to that assists with the view copying and extension process called SAP Live Extension Assistant. This tool automates much of the process, thereby reducing the effort required to add additional fields to your SAP HANA view. Using this tool enables you to copy and extend reuse and query views within SAP HANA Live. Copying the view in this way assures that you are not impacting others using the standard view, and also speeds up the development process. This way, you only have to focus on the additions you are making and do not have to know all the underlying complexity that may exist in the views (some have 8 to 10 nested views and custom joins).

22 Reporting on SAP HANA Live with BusinessObjects
In general, reporting in the SAP BusinessObjects suite is done on top of a universe when consuming SAP HANA Live data. The universe layer provides a customizable semantic layer between the SAP HANA calculation views and the end-reporting tool. In order to use the real-time reporting capabilities of SAP HANA Live, the query views are used straight on top of the Business Suite and no data is moved to the EDW (like in BW). It is important to note that some of the newer SAP data visualization and reporting tools (such as SAP Lumira) have native connectivity to SAP HANA and can skip the need to connect through a BusinessObjects universe, allowing you to connect directly to the views. This direct connection to SAP HANA query views can allow for less latency in reporting, which means even faster front-end execution of reports and visualizations.

23 Alternatives to Using Universes– Lumira Example
As an alternative to using BusinessObjects universes, certain SAP reporting tools, such as: Lumira, Design Studio Analysis for Office can natively consume SAP HANA views or S/4 HANA Embedded Analytics (ABAP based CDS). . This means that a universe is not required and data can be consumed directly from the underlying HANA system through the HANA Live views and S/4HANA Embedded Analytics you might have created or extended.

25 The difference between SAP HANA Live & S/4HANA Embedded Analytics
SAP HANA Live and S/4 Embedded Analytics are both standard SAP delivered content for real-time operational reporting. They are based on different technology: SAP HANA Live uses native SAP HANA SQL views SAP HANA S/4HANA Embedded Analytics is based on ABAP-managed core data services (CDS) of the ABAP layer in SAP S/4HANA. CDS views can be maintained in ABAP for Eclipse, while native HANA SQL views are maintained in HANA Studio.

26 S/4 HANA Embedded Analytics and ALPs
S/4 HANA has pre-delivered Analytical List Packages (ALPs). These are similar to content in HANA Live, and developers also get a tool to build their own ALPs Image s Source: Thomas Flekenstein SAP SE 2017 The S/4 HANA Embedded Analytics consist of VDMs, Queries, Fiori Apps, Cockpits, reports and many other components

27 S/4 HANA Embedded Analytics Available Content
S/4 HANA Embedded Analytics has 197 Fiori applications (available as of Cloud edition 1702 Feb 2017)

33 HANA Sizing Tool for Existing BW Implementations (cont.)
To increase speed, you can suppress analysis tables with less than 1 MB size SAP has an updated tool that generates a report significantly better for sizing SAP BW than using the QuickSizer This tool should be used by all existing BW implementations for sizing (QuickSizer is only for new implementations) This program takes into consideration existing databases, table types, and includes the effects of non-active data on the HANA system The higher precision you run the estimate at, the longer the program is going to run With 8 parallel processors and 10TB database, it is not unusual to see 3-5 hours runtime

34 SAP BW on HANA Automated Sizing Tool
Since timeouts are common when running the sizing program, you can temporarily change the parameter in rdisp/max_wprun_time to 0 in BW transaction RZ11. Finally, you estimate the growth for the system as a percentage or as absolute growth. The output is stored in the file you specified and the file can now be ed to hardware vendors for sizing input and hardware selection This program is referenced in SAP Notes and on the SAP Service Marketplace

35 SAP S/4 HANA Automated Sizing Tool
There is also a sizing tool for SoH and for S/4 migrations Use the report called /DF/HDB_SIZING It is found in SAP Note: Thanks to Hisham Gawish, 2017

37 Key Cloud Options

38 Save Money with MCOD and MCOS
You may not need separate hardware for sandbox and development environments Using Multiple Components One Database (MCOD) and/or Multiple Components One System (MCOS) you can simplify the number of hardware environments you need SAP BW on SAP HANA SAP Finance and Controlling Accelerator for the material ledger ERP operational reporting with SAP HANA SAP Finance and Controlling Accelerator: Production Cost Planning SAP Rapid Marts SAP COPA Accelerator SAP Operational Process Intelligence SAP Cash Forecasting SAP Application Accelerator/Suite Accelerator Smart Meter Analytics In addition to custom developed datamarts, all items above can run in an MCOD setup (see SAP Note for more details)

39 Example from Real Company - BW HANA System Landscape
MCOS Note that the QA and Production system are kept the same size so that performance tests are accurate and so that the QA system can be used as for disaster recovery

40 Multitenant Database Containers (MDC) Deployments
APPLICATIONS A tenant database is a single database container You can save money by running multiple tenant databases on a single HANA system MDC is supported for production systems and you can backup for each tenant database You can manage resources such as memory and CPU for each of the tenant databases Application A Application B SAP HANA System Database Tenant Database Tenant Database MDC became available with SP-9 of HANA in 2015!

41 MDC Deployments Details
MDC can be used in Platform & Enterprise Cloud For on-premise it can replace most MCOS deployments and many of the MCOD scenarios There is no virtualization overhead, and scale-out systems with standby nodes is supported You can use SQL to query across databases: I.e., SELECT * FROM schema1.Customers AS tab1, db2.schema2.Customers as tab2 WHERE tab2.column2 = ‘Johnson’ NOTE: Attribute and analytic views must be converted to calculation views to be used as remote tenant database objects Individual database backups and restores can be done from HANA Studio The privilege “Database Admin” allows you to separate admin access to each database You can convert a HANA system to MDC, but it cannot be converted back (command: hdbnsutil –convertToMultiDB)

42 The HANA cockpit can monitor both the system and tenant databases
MDC Monitoring The HANA cockpit can monitor both the system and tenant databases You can connect to any system and tenant database using HANA studio. The DBA Cockpit can also be used to monitor databases
