You use the present-tense to talk about an action that regularly takes place, or an action that is happening now.

4. The present progressive tense
When you want to emphasize that an action is happening right now, you use the present progressive tense.
To form the present progressive tense:
Conjugate “estar” in the present tense according to the subject doing the action
Use a present participle

5. The present participle
To form the present participle of an -ar verb:
Drop the ar
Add “ando”
Por ejemplo:
lavar => lavando

6. To form the present participle of an -er or -ir verb:
Drop the er or ir
Add “iendo”

comer => comiendo
escribir => escribiendo
Irregular:
leer => leyendo
