Ms. Passer’s News from Room 106 Important Upcoming Dates:
Week of: March 6th, 2017 Since Dr. Seuss Day is only celebrated one day, we will have a “Seuss Week” with different dress up days! The dress up days are attached to this newsletter. Keep reading, boys and girls! We are already at 60% of our AR goals – 70% by the end of the week! Happy birthday to Olivia on March 5th! *Super STAR student of the week: Cory! Topic 13 will be wrapped up next Tuesday. Students should continue to practice comparing fractions as well as see which fractions are equivalent. They are doing a fabulous job with this so far! We are now onto Lesson 19! Comprehension Strategies: Cause and Effect and Summarizing Main Story Selection: “Dogzilla” Grammar Focus: Irregular Verbs Vocabulary Strategy: Prefixes pre-, re-, bi- Vocabulary Words: fiery, within, scientific, ancient, mysterious, emergency, panicking, horrifying, prehistoric, immediately We’ve gotten through our first state: Alabama! Next week’s states: Alaska and Arizona Science next week will be focused on food chains and food webs. Spelling Words (vowel sounds in spoon and wood): mood, wooden, drew, smooth, blue, balloon, true, crooked, chew, tooth, hooves, cool, food, pooch, blew, foot Challenge: loose, jewel Important Upcoming Dates: 3/13: Lifetouch Spring Pictures in school 3/20: 2 hr. late start 3/21: Pizza Pete orders in 3:00-5:30 PM 3/30: End of 3rd Quarter (AR goals due!) 4/13: Last day of Extended Day 4/14 – 4/18: No School; Spring Break 4/24: MCA testing begins
