IDEA STARTERS Create a list of OSH-related questions you’ve been asked by executives in your organization, other managers, employees, clients, students, family and friends. Make a list of some common negative phrases you’ve heard about OSH. Make a list of either-or topics you encounter regularly in managing OSH. It’s a little more than safety versus no safety, but the idea is to take a subject about which you’ve encountered resistance and present the OSH side of “the versus.”
29
IDEA STARTERS Many groups sponsor key-issue roundtables at ASSE’s annual conference. Review the roundtable reports generated and identify the knowledge needs mentioned by attendees. Think about a recent webinar, seminar or conference session that piqued your interest. What key information did you take away from it, how have you applied it, what difference has it made in your practice? Make a list of the topics you discuss regularly with your safety department, joint safety committee, etc. Have you seen a TED Talk that was particularly captivating and had a message that would resonate with OSH professionals? List your key takeaways.
30
IDEA STARTERS Have you attended an ASSE webinar, seminar or conference session that gave you information you could apply immediately? List your key takeaways. Idea watch: What are some of the new ideas/trends in your industry/area of interest? Have a “Big Idea for OSH”? How would it change the profession? How I Did It. Think about a program you helped develop and implement. What were the key results? What metrics did you use? What lessons were learned?
31
Questions? Do you have another question after this webinar is over? Please feel free to contact your Member Portal staff at ASSE: Tim Fisher Director, Practices and Standards Char Haguewood Manager, Practice Specialties
