Fourier power spectra of normal MR tremor (mechanical), enhanced physiological tremor due to thyrotoxicosis (enhanced) and physiological tremor with a prominent 8–12-Hz component (8–12 Hz). Postural hand tremor was recorded a miniature accelerometer (blue lines), and rectified-filtered EMG of the extensor carpi radialis brevis was recorded with skin electrodes (red lines). Note how a 500-g load on the hand reduced normal and enhanced MR tremor. By contrast, the 8–12-Hz tremor increased in amplitude, but its frequency did not change. Source: Chapter 27.
