What is a dual credit course?
Dual credit courses are those that allow students to earn college credit while attending high school.

Investment $177 per course at TCC* $295 per course at UT*
Financial Aid may be available. Student must fill out the FAFSA to be eligible for aid. High school students who have earned 24 college credits or more upon graduation save about $15,000. *Costs may vary dependent on university tuition.

Are there any restrictions?
A student must meet course prerequisite requirements before enrolling in classes. Students are required to make a grade of at least 70 or “C” in all courses to continue in the dual credit program. Students may not drop a dual credit course without permission from the high school counselor. It is the students responsibility to notify his/her counselor. Students must attend class 90% of the time, failure to do so may result in the professor dropping you from class.

Dual Credit Timeline Task 1 Register for high school courses 2
Complete TCC online application 3 Register online in your campus counseling office for a TSI testing slot (double check to see if you are exempt) 4 Use study materials provided for testing. 5 Complete Early High School form and return to counseling office. Transcript will be sent to TCC by the high school. 6 Are you signing up for an online course? If so, you must complete the Online Readiness Assessment before you will be allowed to start the class. 7 Fill out the FAFSA to be eligible for financial aid 8 Pay for courses either online or at TCC after registration is complete. 9 Purchase textbooks for course 10 Contact disability support services with any required academic accommodations

TSI Assessment Texas State Initiative
The TSI assessment is the approved placement test used by educational institutions to assist in determining if a student is prepared for a college-level course and to aid institutions in making course placement decisions Reading and Writing portions of the TSI test will be required for TCC. Aviation also requires Math TSI. TSI Assessment Texas State Initiative The UT-On Ramps dual program does not require the TSI.

A composite score of 23 with: At least 19 on math for an exemption in math and/or At least 19 on English for an exemption in reading and writing SAT A combined critical reading and mathematics score of 1070 with: At least 500 on math for an exemption in math and/or At least 500 on critical reading for an exemption in reading and writing

Go to and click on Active Apply. Input all personal information and click continue when finished. PAGE 1 1) Where it states “I am applying for”, please choose Undergraduate Admission (DO NOT select Continuing Education) 2) Where it states “The primary reason for attending TCC”, please choose Dual Credit. 3) Continue filling out personal information. When finished click ‘Next’. PAGE 2 1) Completely fill out all personal information. When finished click ‘Next’.

PAGE 3 1) “Term and year you expect to enter TCC”: please choose the semester you are planning to enroll. If not listed, please select the most current term. 2) Where it states “Campus you plan to attend”, please select TCC Connect. 3) Where it states, “On what basis are you seeking admission to TCC”, please select Dual Credit. (Disregard directions to complete additional application required for Dual Credit) 4) High School information is required, please select your correct school, if it is not listed, please choose the box “I cannot find my school in the list above, or I attend outside of Texas, or I have a different situation.” Please enter High School information and graduation date. 5) Where it states, “Are you applying under the College Access Program”, please select ‘No’. 6) Under Texas Success Initiative (TSI), please select any test you have taken. 7) Under TSI Exemptions, please leave blank. When finished click ‘Next’.

PAGE 4 Please answer all residency questions. Please Note-When asked “Do you file your own federal income tax as an independent tax payer,” for the majority of you, the answer will be ‘No’. “Are you claimed as a dependent?” Yes (Your parents and/or guardian will most likely claim you as a dependent). Fill out the dependent student information. When finished click, ‘Next’.

After you apply you can reserve a seat to take the TSI if not exempt.

Social Security # 2. address PAGE 5 1) Please choose Yes or No, if you agree to allow the release of your information into the directory. 2) Check the box stating “All information contained in this application is honestly presented.” When completely finished, review your information and click ‘SUBMIT’. After you apply you can reserve a seat to take the TSI if not exempt.

Students will be able to log in with their WebAdvisor ID and password an can do this assessment from home. DUAL COURSES Complete the Online Readiness Assessment. All courses have an online component.

Dual Credit Textbooks After the student has received a Dual Credit schedule, they will obtain their textbook(s) at Follett Bookstore. Students may purchase the textbooks online, if they choose to write in the book, through the Follett Bookstore at . Students must have their textbooks on the first day of class.

If students require ANY form of accommodation please notify the counselor or Dual Credit Coordinator to fill out a TCC-DSS packet.
