4 Why Leaders? Jesus called them together. He said, “You know about the rulers of the Gentiles. They hold power over their people. Their high officials order them around. Don’t be like that. Instead, anyone who wants to be important among you must be your servant. - Matthew 20:25-26 Be like the Son of Man. He did not come to be served. Instead, he came to serve others. He came to give his life as the price for setting many people free. -Matthew 20:28

5 3 Common Traits of a Student Who Makes it to Senior Year
Strong adult connections Strong peer connections By time a junior/senior they are owning their faith and investing in their church

6 Leadership and Serving
These two things go hand in hand. As you deal with one another, you should think and act as Jesus did. In his very nature he was God. Jesus was equal with God. But Jesus didn’t take advantage of that fact. Instead, he made himself nothing. He did this by taking on the nature of a servant. He was made just like human beings. -Philippians 2:5-7

7 Who are your Student Leaders?
Find a partner and discuss these things… What qualities do they have? Why are they an effective student leader? What do you see in their future?

8 Why Student Leaders? Why? We all know we could use extra help in the world of youth ministry WHY NOT! Why not utilize the gifts these students have while helping them develop their own faith. Not ministry FOR students, ministry BY them

They are able to keep their whole body under control. -James 3:1-2

16 Ministry As a Career (MAC Track)

MAC Track is committed to providing support, encouragement, resources and options to these students as they explore their callings.

17 MAC Track 3 level approach
Middle School (6-8th grade) Exploration Phase Discover your gifts What are the possibilities in ministry for me?

18 MAC Track 3 level approach
9th and 10th grade More service based Focus Groups Pick and ministry and volunteer for a year

19 MAC Track 3 level approach
11th and 12th grade Academic focus Internship Style Individualized learning and consolation catered to each student

20 MAC Track This is why I remind you to help God’s gift grow, just as a small spark grows into a fire. God put his gift in you when I placed my hands on you.  God gave us his Spirit. And the Spirit doesn’t make us weak and fearful. Instead, the Spirit gives us power and love. He helps us control ourselves. So don’t be ashamed of the message about our Lord. And don’t be ashamed of me, his prisoner. Instead, join with me as I suffer for the good news. God’s power will help us do that. II Timothy 1:6-8
