Registration materials were distributed to students on Tuesday in Counselor presentation at North Freshmen Worksheet (pink) must be turned in to Flex teacher by Tuesday, February 7! Course Selection Sheet (pink) Directions for PowerSchool course selection (white) Course Guide (received copy at meeting, also online)

Incoming Freshmen (new to district)
District and 9th Grade Course Registration information is available tonight. Complete District Enrollment before you register for courses (Return to HS or District Office). Return purple Course Request Form to MFHS Main Office by February 17. School Counselors will input course requests for new students.

Honors Placement in Core Classes
Honors courses are offered in the core areas of English, Science, Social Studies and Math. Placement in honors level will be determined by teacher recommendation, grades and test scores. For students new to the district please consult with your current teacher for the best placement decision. In addition, you will receive notification regarding math placement testing.

World Language If you are currently taking a World Language, and would like to continue, sign up for Level II of that same language. Example: Spanish Spanish II If you would like to take a World Language in 9th grade and have not taken it in 8th grade, sign up for Level 1. Within UW System, only UW-Madison requires minimum 2 years of same foreign language for admission. Exit criteria varies.

On-Line Registration (For Current North Students Only)
Reminder: Select courses online (PowerSchool) between February 1 and February 6. Freshmen (currently in district) will be automatically scheduled in the appropriate core classes: English, Math, Biology and World History, as well as PE and Study Hall. **Remember students new to the district should provide teacher sign off for core class placement. Late spring you will receive Math Placement Testing information.

Choose classes wisely. *Make a one year commitment to your course selections. Schedule changes are only allowed on a very limited basis. Be sure to sign up for both semesters of a year long course. Choose at least 2 alternate courses. Not all courses are offered each semester or each year. Read course guide carefully and plan ahead!!

Tips to HS Success Get involved in at least one after-school activity. Involvement breeds a positive outlook and academic success. Advocate for yourself and seek out help when needed. Maintain your academic focus. What you do today and tomorrow in your high school classes will impact you in 4-5 years. Maintain a balance between school and personal life. Know your limits and realize when you may be taking on too much. Take Transition to High School Summer Course. Four day course offered various times this Summer. Register online at in Spring.

Where Can I Get Help? Resource Study Hall: Staffed by an educational assistant. 1:10 ratio. Needs administrator/counselor approval. Math Resource Study Hall/Tutor: math teachers available every hour for support. ITI: Available for students with an IEP or a 504 plan One-on-One assistance from individual teachers: Make personal contact to determine availability Student Services: Meet with your counselor to discuss problems you may be having and brainstorm ideas for solutions.
