14 Truancy Minimum Student fined $500 for one incident (i.e., the 10th truancy/unexcused absence) Judge may increase the fine(s) depending on previous citations, discipline history and/or grades.

17 TWO TARDIES IN THE SAME CLASS = 1 ABSENCE FOR THAT CLASS!!!!
Tardy Policy High School – tardies will be counted per class and cumulative per semester 1–2 Tardies verbal warning 3rd Tardy- Final warning, phone call/ to parent 4th – 6th Tardy – 2 hours after school detention 7th-8th Tardy – 4 Hours Saturday detention 9th Tardy – 1 day In-School Suspension 10 or more tardies possible loss of school privileges (see administrator) Students who are 20 mins late will be counted absence Parents are responsible for transportation. TWO TARDIES IN THE SAME CLASS = 1 ABSENCE FOR THAT CLASS!!!!

18 Tardy Policy Tips After 7:30 students must check in through the attendance office on the West side of campus. Students must be checked out through the attendance office on the west side of campus by a parent or guardian. Choose your route carefully and pay close attention to the amount of time you spend socializing in the hallway to avoid being tardy If the tardy bell rings you are already tardy Tardy Policy starts over every nine weeks Do not waste your two free tardies

19 Student ID Cards

20 Student ID Cards Students will be furnished a free ID card which is to be worn at all times. IDs must be worn attached to shirt or a lanyard around the neck at all times. Replacement IDs are available at cost ($3). Temporary IDs will not be available

21 ID Card Tips Keep your ID in a secure place when your not at school
Make it a habit to put your ID on at home every morning Wear your ID at school ID needs to be clearly seen hanging from your on your shirt (at the top) or lanyard Do not deface your ID Card

28 Dress Code Tips Do not wear something just because you saw someone else wearing it – NO HOLES IN JEANS If you are not sure whether or not a piece of clothing is in dress code, do not wear it For further information regarding updates to the DISD dress code visit the DISD website The Executive Principal is the final authority on dress code policy for our campus.

30 Bus Procedures Obey the instructions of the bus driver
You must board and exit your bus at your designated stop only Ride only the bus to which you are assigned.

Do not hang out in the bus area Exit your bus Get in dress code with ID visible Go to either the cafeteria designated area

32 Afternoon Bus Procedures
After school, please exit the building quickly Students have 8 minutes to board the bus. Buses will begin departure promptly beginning at 3:08PM. You are responsible for finding your own bus. If you miss your bus you will be responsible for calling your parents and arranging for your own transportation. Do not miss your bus.

33 Bus Tips The Student Code of Conduct is in effect on the bus and at the bus stop Obey the bus driver Your bus number should be printed on your ID

34 Lunch Procedures

35 All About Lunch… Your lunch period is 30 minutes long
You are assigned to only one lunch period per day You will need your Student ID Card in order to buy lunch You are required to clean up after yourself Do not stand or sit on the table Do not walk over the short walls in the cafeteria You must remain in the cafeteria during your lunch. You must eat in the cafeteria nearest your classroom.

36 Lunch Tips Get to the cafeteria as quickly as possible
You only have 30 minutes Do not stand in the longest line Do not sit around and talk with friends for 20 minutes and then get in line Excused lunch passes are not typically given No food delivery, no exceptions!

We encourage you to support your school by attending after-school events Show School Spirit Please remember to wear your Student ID Card Students will not be allowed in the game on the home side without DHS school ID All students must exit the stadium/arena immediately after the event.

39 BYOD – Bring your own device
DISD is committed to developing a 21st century learning environment for its students and teachers. Beginning in the school year, DISD allowed students and teachers to bring their own technology devices to use at specified times during the school day. With classroom teacher approval, students may use their own devices in the classroom to participate in instructional activities, access and save information from the Internet, collaborate with other learners, and utilize productivity tools and instructionally appropriate apps loaded on their devices.
