Where is Uganda? Uganda is a landlocked country. Sharing its borders with Kenya, Tanzania, Sudan, and The Republic of Congo.

Geography Six great lakes lie within or along Uganda’s borders.
Lake Victoria-world’s second largest freshwater lake. The Nile flows through Uganda Mountains surround Uganda’s central plateau. Rain is plentiful Only the extreme northeast suffers from desert-like conditions.

Flag Description Six equal horizontal bands of black, yellow and red.
In the center depicts a grey crowned crane (the national symbol) Black-symbolizes the African people Yellow-sunshine and vitality Red-African brotherhood.

History Until the mid-nineteenth century, Uganda was unknown to Europeans. King Mutesa I was the first to allow British explorers. British controlled Uganda until independence was achieved in 1962. Years of violent civil war followed. Ugandans are united in their goal of achieving a prosperous peace.

Animals of Uganda Uganda teems with life. The Animals are protected. There are sanctuaries for the mountain gorillas and the rhino.
