1 God’s righteous judgment - Judging Righteously Rom 2:1-3
BY elder LEKAN OWODUNNI

2 Romans 2:1-3 1.Therefore thou art inexcusable, O man, whosoever thou art that judgest: for wherein thou judgest another, thou condemnest thyself; for thou that judgest doest the same things.

3 2 But we are sure that the judgment of God is according to truth against them which commit such things. 3 And thinkest thou this, O man, that judgest them which do such things, and doest the same, that thou shalt escape the judgment

4 Judgment defined Judgment is an opinion or decision that is based on careful thoughts; the act or process of forming an opinion or judging someone or something.

5 Judgment defined Note: as human, can we do this without being biased?
In relationship we judge others and form opinions about them wrongly or rightly. Luke 18:11 – the Pharisee and the publican

6 Relationship defined A strong deep or close association or acquaintance between two or more people.

7 our major concern is interpersonal relationship which exist between: families husband and wife, brother and sister

8 Siblings and extended family place of work in churches and among friends

9 Through Christ we establish a relationship with God
this is vital to our Christian walk, this has a great influence on other relationship we have, be it husband and wife, family, church membership, this reflects on our personal relationship walking with God.

10 Through Christ we establish a relationship with God
Prov. 13:20 – “walk with the wise and become wise for a companion of the fools suffers harm.”

11 Root Cause Of Every Wrangling In Relationship
THE ROOT CAUSE OF EVERY WRANGLING IN RELATIONSHIP IS PURELY BASED ON OUR PERCEPTION AND THIS INFLUENCE HOW WE RESPOND TO OUR PERCEIVED FEELINGS WHEN IN RELATIONSHIP PERCEPTION

12 Relationship: - affects our perception & ultimately dictates the measure of our judgment of each other There are only a few things we are permitted to judge according to the scriptures. We are permitted to judge ourselves. 1Cor. 11:31 “for if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged.”

13 Matt. 7:1-3- “judge not, that ye be not judged…………….
To judge or know others by their fruits. 1Cor. 2:15- “but he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man”

14 1cor. 6:3, Ps. 58:1, Ezk. 23:45 We are to judge the times. Ps. 37:30 “the mouth of the righteous speaketh wisdom and his tongue talketh judgment.

15 dangers in judgment If we misjudge or accuse another we open ourselves up to the very same things we are judging in another person e.g. king David in 2Sam 12:1-15.

16 this event occurred one year after David committed the incident with Bathsheba and the subsequent murder of Uriah. This confrontation and repentance made him to write Psalm 51 during this period.

17 How do we judge? separate a person actions from his motives.
We can judge a person’s actions but we cannot judge their motivations.

18 Only God can know the heart of men.
God does not only judge our works, but also judge our motivations for such works.

19 NOTE: One thing in life is what leads you up is whaT will sustain you or bring you down.

20 HOW ARE WE TO JUDGE We are to judge righteously – Jesus in John 7:24 –
Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgment. Prov. 24:23.

21 1Sam.16:1-13. – the anointing of David as a king by Samuel.
The prophet of the Lord judged as a natural man until God intervene to avoid a blunder that could have rubbished the eternal grace extended to humanity by God.

22 We are to judge by the word of God and its principles rather than by someone’s oratory, charisma, perceived spiritual height or other physical manifestations like looks, economy etc.

23 We are to judge without discrimination or personal alignment and hypocrisy.
Rom. 2:3 – “And thinkest thous this, o man that judgest them which do such things, and doest the same, that thou shalt escape the judgment of God?

24 DEALING WITH A SINNING BROTHER
Matt. 18:15-17 – “moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother.

25 But if he will not or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established. And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell it unto the church; but if he to hear the church, let him be unto the as an heathen man and a publican

26 Gal. 6:1 – “brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.”

27 Conclusively: Since we children of god and true believers, god the righteous judge expects us all to judge righteously. So as to free ourselves from presumptuous sins Psalm 19:13
