2 Piaget According to Piaget’s Stages 7-10 year-olds are in the in Concrete Operations In the Concrete Operations stage: Children think logically, but still learn best through their own experiences.

3 Language Double speaking and listening vocabularies
May show a stronger interest in reading May reverse printed letters (b/d) During this stage develop confidence in reading and writing. Tend to talk as they learn, and learn best if active while learning.

4 Logic enjoy planning and building enjoy creating elaborate collections
can think through their own actions and situations to understand causes of events.

5 Logic (cont.) Begin to form ideas mentally, group things together that belong in one category (babies, fathers and mothers are all people). shows ability to learn difference between left and right Can do simple reasoning. Asking "what if" or "how could we solve this” questions helps the child develop problem solving skills.

6 Math Form a basic understanding of numbers. Practice by reading signs, making lists, counting or writing prices of objects they buy. Understand the value and uses of money can begin to understand time and the days of the week

7 Life Skills The attention span of 6- to 8-year-olds is about 20 minutes Begin to learn the value of "work." Need chores at home and school. The process of work is more interesting than the product. May begin projects, but not finish. May take on the role of an admired adult in fantasy or dramatic play. encourage positive experiences in a caring community (youth/church groups etc.)
