Just because you are leaving military service does not mean that you cannot continue to serve your fellow citizens! Federal, state, and local governments, in addition to many non-profit organizations, are in need of your expertise. Your experience, or that of your spouse, may be the crucial piece that these organizations need in order to continue operating!

6 Americorps and Volunteering
Objective: To improve employment prospects and keep individuals engaged in a job field and their communities

7 Americorps and Volunteering
Americorps is an organization that transitions military leaders into community leaders. Americorps volunteers will have a positive impact on the lives of their fellow citizens this year by fighting wildfires, helping to rebuild communities struck by disasters, tutoring disadvantaged youth, building houses for those in need, and working with doctors, nurses, and couselors in the healthcare community.

8 Americorps and Volunteering
Why volunteer? Volunteering not only allows you to give back to the community, it allows you to get a broad range of hands on experience while establishing network with many prospective employers in your field of interest.

9 Americorps and Volunteering
Lasting Benefits Americorps volunteers receive a flexible education award that complements their GI Bill. Full time members receive a living allowance, healthcare benefits, and childcare assistance. Nearly 400 employers nationwide, including federal services, prioritize hiring those who have participated in volunteer programs such as Americorps.
