The Shakespearean tragedy has a tragic hero with a tragic flaw. The Shakespearean tragedy has internal and external conflicts. A revenge motive is present. Some humor is evident. A Shakespearean tragedy has chance happenings. Supernatural elements occur.

The tragic hero is a person of noble statute. He often holds a position of power and is well-liked and respected The tragic hero has a tragic flaw in his character. Due to this flaw, the tragic hero commits a tragic mistake.

The tragic hero recognizes the mistake he has made. The tragic hero loses his position of power and/or dies. In a paragraph, identify how Romeo fits the characteristics of a tragic hero. In another paragraph, identify how the play fits the common elements of a Shakespearean tragedy.
