2 Rules of Hyphens Use hyphens in compound numbers from twenty-one to ninety-nine Ex. Twenty-four, seventy-seven, ninety- six

3 Rules of Hyphens Use a hyphen in a compound adjective that precedes a noun. If the compound adjective comes after the noun do not use a hyphen.

4 Rules of hyphens Use a hyphen after the prefixes ALL, EX, SELF, ANTI, VICE and when identifying a century. Also use a hyphen after a prefix and a capitalized word.

5 Hyphens Use a hyphen to divide words at the end of a line. Break between syllables and if the word at the end of the line ends in ing and the final consonant is doubled before the suffix use the hyphen between the consonants.
