Once you have verified your account, scroll down and click on Foreign Language. Look for the course named “Ecrivez en Francais” It should allow you to sign in as a guest. If not, the Enrollment key is “techsummit” You should be able to see the course as a student can see it. While I am talking, if you would go back to your and send a request to with the name of a course i.e. French I 1st Hour with your username (asmith) and category (Foreign Language). 8 2. Click on News Forum At the top of the page, click on the News Forum Module. This is an example of what a forum might look like. You can use this module to allow students to talk with you or other students, make comments, suggestions, etc. As a teacher, you have the ability to control how it is used. Show editing function (Turn editing on) and the different possibilities for the modules.

9 3. Adding or Enrolling Users
On the side of the page (can be on the left or right, depending on how your server and individual course are set up), under Settings, click on Users. Click on Enrolled Users, then Enrol Users (at the top or bottom of the page). [I know Enroll is spelled wrong. Moodle is based in Australia.] This will allow you to manually search all users on the server, or you can type in first and/or last names and Enroll them individually in the Class. Show editing function (Turn editing on) and the different possibilities for the modules.

10 3. Adding or Enrolling Users
Show editing function (Turn editing on) and the different possibilities for the modules.

11 4. French I Lecon 4C This is an example of a file that you would upload, and the student would download.

12 4. Random File This is an example of a file that you would upload, and the student would download.

13 5. Tex’s Adjectives This is an example of a website for the students to go to.

14 6. p. 161 Translation This is an example of an Assignment. I personally prefer the Online Text module, but play around with it. Use different ones and ask the students what they prefer.

15 7. Tests Tests on Moodle can be amazingly easy to grade, but be careful. You have to get them set up just right. Suggestion: Take each test before you give it to the students. This makes it more likely that you will catch your mistakes.

16 Don’t Misuse Technology
Using Technology for Technology’s sake is just a misuse of technology Use authentic, creative ideas keep students engaged Don’t place too many limitations or students lose interest Use an LMS like Moodle to keep consistency, but add to it on a regular basis. Try out at least one new module each unit. Aim for more student-centered activities, giving them freedom and authorship of their learning environment

17 Thank you for attending. Please contact me if I can help you at all.
