Black children represent 19% of enrollment, but they accounted for 47% of the pre-school children who received one or more out of school suspensions in Black preschoolers are 3.6 times more likely to be suspended than white preschoolers.

5 K-12 schools: Enrollment v. Suspension
Percent Black Boys Black Girls White Boys White Girls In K-12 schools, the data show that 18% of suspended students were African Amer boys and 10 % were Black girls. Both are twice as high as rates for White boys and White girls.

14 Let’s Work Together for ALL Children
Family and Community Engagement: Establish and cultivate ongoing partnerships with families to ensure student success. Establish and cultivate ongoing partnerships with colleges, universities, businesses, community organizations, local health and wellness, mental, and social service centers.

15 It’s Just Good Teaching and Leading
Culturally Relevant Leadership Practices Engage in team-based, ongoing, and job embedded professional development focused on implementing leadership practices that support culturally relevant dimensions that deeply value the diversity and richness of the adult and student population in K–12 schools.

16 Keeping the Main thing, the Main Thing
Intense Focus on Student-Centered Data for Student-Centered Learning Examine school suspension, expulsion, chronic absenteeism and other student data that adversely affect student achievement and learning. Address the root causes of high dropout rates, low graduation rates, and all students’ performance on formative and summative assessments.

School Climate Ensure that strategies are implemented in the equity plan to maintain school safety and a supportive and healthy school climate for all learners.

18 Differentiated and Customized Learning Opportunities
Equitable Student Access Support college and career readiness for all students, thus promoting increased opportunities for dual enrollment, advance placement courses, and career and technical education.

19 Equitable Access, Diversity, and Inclusion
Ensuring a Diverse Staff of Excellent Educators Develop and implement a comprehensive educator recruitment and retention plan to maintain an excellent and diverse educator workforce that supports the diversity of the student population in K–12 schools.

20 Equitable funding allocations
Fiscal Equity Allocate equitable funds to high-needs schools to support the resources needed to establish and maintain systemic and effective school reform.

21 Effective Teaching Teacher Quality
Ensure that districts and schools implement a comprehensive recruitment and retention plan using promising practices to recruit, hire, retain, and support an equitable distribution of exemplary and effective educators for all students.
