Under 6’s Played – Tuggeranong Buffaloes Blue 8 – 12 Loss The young Rams this week showed that all the defence we have been learning at training over the past few weeks is working. Unfortunately our attack has suffered so this week we will work on that. Special mention this week to the two Josh’s who ran well and to Silas and Harry who were excellent in defence. Zig Under 7’s Played – Queanbeyan United Blue 30 – 22 Win The team bounced back well after their first loss last round. The boys are really starting to work for each other and three tries were scored from offloads. It was very hard to single any players out this week but there was an absolutely outstanding defensive effort from Liam Vecchi who tacked himself to a standstill. With only a few games to go until coach Billy is not on the field the whole team is starting to gel. Great effort!!

Under 8's Played – Queanbeyan United White 50 – 0 Win Sunday saw all of the boys turn up to Wright Park in Queanbeyan ready to play. The boys were all very pumped up for a big game and is showed from the kick off! The boys did as Scrumpy told them and passed the ball through all sets of hands in order to score tries. They seem to have mastered the ‘raider’ or scoot and a couple of tries were scored from this on the weekend. The boys are no longer just getting the ball and trying to score points. They are all now playing as a team and passing the ball to each other. The boys still need to continue to spread out to pass the ball to each other and our future front rowers need to be running onto the ball. The boys are not getting many tough games this year so we’re all hoping some harder matches will be coming up son to test their skills out. Brayden was deservedly this week’s Man of the Match after scoring 4 tries and kicking a goal. At the end of the game the boys all sang Happy Birthday to Kai for his birthday this week. Scrumpy decided it would be good for the boys to get together other than football. Monday say most of them do a ‘team bonding’ session at Weston Indoor Sports, playing games of soccer and then enjoying pizza for dinner. Congratulations to Scrumpy on the Sharky’s win against the Raiders! Under 9’s Played – Yass – no result/report available HALLAM HOMES GLR Financial Solutions Looking After Your Financial Life Under 10’s Played – South Tuggeranong Red 52 – 0 Win The boys continued on their winning way again this week with another strong team effort. The Knights are not one of the stronger teams but still the Rams showed they are learning the importance of teamwork each game. Maikeli had his best game in Rams colours, making some great tackles and positioning himself well on the wing to take advantage of good ball movement from the inside players. From the kick off the Rams showed good commitment in defence and were able to force a turnover early on. Billy made a great tackle and showed the tackles he did at training were no fluke. Djai was also effective in defence and took a knock to the throat but showed great ticker to play on. Captain for the day Dredgie and Brad were organising runners well in the middle and also making some good tackles, keeping the pressure on the Knights. Once the strong, up the middle runners of Anthony, Bailey and Ayden had done their damage, our speed men Nick, Daniel and Mick caused plenty of havoc out side. Daniel bagged his usual haul of tries, one from a kick-off, while Mick was unlucky not to get at least one more after being deliberately tripped. If the score hadn’t been as big as it was there would have been a certain send off but to the team’s credit they just kept playing good footy. We had built up a handy lead by half time and the challenge for the second half was to keep the ball moving after the first couple of hit ups each time we got the ball. Tome and Joseph came on for the second half and Joseph made some great runs up the centre of the ruck making plenty of ground and Tom had some good runs outside where he is more dangerous, getting some good balls away to Mick and Maikeli. A highlight of the second half was the final try to Maikeli after a great floating pass from Brad. Maikeli stayed on his wing, the inside boys knew to let the pass go and Brad landed it perfectly. Another highlight was Bailey’s run from inside our own half to split the defenders and runaway to score. The highlights as far as the team was concerned though was the commitment in defence. All the boys are getting involved and the team is benefiting from the pressure it puts on the other team. They are realising the other team seem to hand the ball over if we tackle well. We then make more ground if we can get the ball wide after the first few runs up the middle. Captain Dredgie led the team well and Man of the Match went to Maikeli for his great all round game. We had a few sick boys in Max, Riley and Angus so we’ll hopefully welcome them back next week. Also, Luke was there to help out on the bench again and stay involved with the boys. Good game again boys and let’s keep up that teamwork both in attack and defence so that when we play the stronger teams we can knock them over.

Played – Valley Dragons Red – 0 -20 Loss - no report available
Under 11’s Played – Valley Dragons Red – Loss - no report available Under 12's Played – Valley Dragons Red Win Very exciting!!! A win against the Dragons at their home ground!!! Not only were the weather gods kind to us on Sunday but so too were the “we can win when we play as a team” gods! Up against the Dragons better side we were slow to get started but did very well to come through with the win in the final seconds of the game. A narrow margin indeed, had neither side missed any conversations it could have gone the other way! Keep up the talking on the field, and wrapping up that ball!!! We scored 4 tries for the day: Zac 2; Ryka 1; Anthony McQ 1. Goals (3 from 4): Zac; Tom; Anthony McQ. Woden and Batemans Bay Under 13’s Played – Yass 26 – 0 Win The boys had a tough time keeping onside this week as the ref nearly blew the pea out of his whistle. The game was a lot tougher than the final score indicated. Defence was the key with the Rams keeping out the Magpies all day. It was six tries to nil with Jake 2, Simon, Jack T., Michael and George all crossing for tries. The forwards led by Jack T. and Daniel hit it up all day. Seb and Kosta, Patrick and Scott were tireless in defence and made plenty of metres. Reuben and Dean at No 9 were dynamic from dummy half organinsing the forwards. The halves, Jed and Simon had their work cut out for them but eventually cut them to pieces in the second half with Simon taking out the Man of the Match award. Good work Simon. Michael made his presence felt with some bone crushing tackles and great runs from inside centre. Jason and Jesse combined well out wide. Ben took an intercept and ran 80m and was held up over the line. George combined in attack and did some damage. Goal kicking was 0/6 this week better luck next time boys. A good away win. Under 14’s Played – Gungahlin Bulls 22 – 10 Win The week started well with 13 of a possible 14 fit players turning up for training on Tuesday. Unfortunately we had the same numbers on Thursday and it affected our ball work session. Once again, if you can’t make training please give me a call on my mobile.!! You all seemed to be pretty well switched on when arriving at Gungahlin on Sunday morning. It always makes a huge difference when you all turn up with your footy heads on and have a good chat and warm up. Early in the game you gave away some cheap turnovers, luckily our defence was pretty good. In this period the Bull’s scored one try, although it could have been more. When Steve came on he got the forwards going with some good runs and Jacob also came to life and was busting the line with most of his hits. You improved as the game went on and all up it was a pretty good effort from all. Best for the day were Jacob, Tyson, Stevie D. and Mitch kicked a great conversion from close to the touch line. Gus was as good as ever from the back and the Fish Man and Alim are improving every week. Tries: Jake 3, Chris 1 Goals: Mitch 3 Cheers Adam, Ryan and Country
