5 Why should my business use social media?
Everyone else is doing it. Your customers and competitors are in the online social communities, therefore you should be as well. Great tool to direct traffic to a pre-existing website or act as your website if your business does not have one. Use as a learning tool to stay up to date with market trends and new information.

6 It’s All About Relationships
Be Transparent. In the world of social media, the users will catch on quickly if your content isn’t sincere & honest. Be Giving. Provide some content to users that isn’t a sales pitch. (example – instructional videos) Be There. Social media is about interaction; the commitment isn’t tremendous, but you do have to stay on top of your relationships with other users. It’s All About Relationships Networking has been a part of business since day one. The social media communities are now another venue to capitalize on networking opportunities. Here are a few key ideas to be successful with your social media strategy.

9 Twitter Set-up Fill out the following:
Full Name – Company name should go in this field Username – Make this concise and easy to remember Password – At least 6 characters, “be tricky” – This can be used for other people to search for your company, if you so choose

10 Twitter Set-up Find sources that interest you
Twitter provides suggestions of other twitter users to follow based on topic (example – science) Enter your and scan your address book to find out if any of your friends or colleagues already have a twitter accounts Simply use the search field to enter a person or company’s name or twitter alias to find their account

11 Twitter Set-up Complete Your Profile & Settings
Under the Settings link you can find the following: Account, password & notifications ( & mobile phone) options A profile section where you add an image, your name, a website and a short (1 to 2 sentence) biography The design (background) of the page can also be changed under settings

Tweet: a single Twitter post @messages: a reference to another Twitter user Retweet: reposting another users idea or post DM: direct message sent to another user Tweetup: In-person gathering organized via Twitter Fail Whale: Logo that appears when the site is over capacity

14 Facebook Set-up Initial Steps to make a fan page:
Sign-in to a pre-existing personal Facebook account or create one The tool bar (shown here) will be on the left-hand side of the screen. Click See More if all choices are not shown Click on “Ads and Pages” to create a fan page for your business

15 Facebook Set-up Go to Create a Page - where you will complete the following: - Click the circle for local business Enter the business name (this will be a page name and cannot be changed)

Add an image: upload your company logo Provide some basic information: date founded, website, company overview, mission & products Post Status Updates: update your Facebook fans Promote this page on your website: provides an html code so that a “Like” button can be added to your company website Set up your mobile phone: send status updates & upload photos/video from a mobile phone Send status updates to your Twitter followers: connect your Twitter and Facebook account to simultaneously update both

Post Updates about new products, offers, etc. Post an event where guests can RSVP and comment Upload pictures and video about your company, products or services Post web links that relate to your business Start discussions with fans on specific topics

19 YouTube Set-up Step one of easy sign-up
On the home page select Create Account Enter a username (only letters & #) and check the availability Enter Location (country) & postal code Must enter DOB & gender. Meant for individuals to sign-up; does not effect the profile for your company.

20 YouTube Set-up Step two of easy sign-up
Enter an . This will be used to sign-in to your YouTube account and can be changed in your account settings. Choose a password and complete the word verification. ACCOUNT SET-UP IS FINISHED

21 Uploading Video on YouTube
Click Upload on the top of the screen and then the yellow Upload Now button Choose the file from your computer Give the video a title, brief description, tags (keywords) and a category – all ways to search for the video Choose the privacy settings: Public vs. Unlisted vs. Private
