GENIUS
HadronTherapy simulates the beam line and particles revelators used in the proton-therapy facility CATANA (Centro di AdroTerapia e Applicazioni Nucleari Avanzate), active even at INFN-LNS. Here 62 MeV proton beams, accelerated by a superconductive cyclotrone, are employed for the treatment of some kind of ocular tumours.

Grid for Entertainment !
gMOD is a new application offering a video on demand video service. A user can browse a catalog of movie trailers and request one to be streamed in real time to his/her workstation using the power of the grid. Movies can also be choosen by querying an underlying metadata catalog using one or more attribute. The role feature of the Virtual Organization Menbership Services (VOMS) is exploited to define normal users and catalog managers. gMOD represents a very interesting use case for the use of grid both in entertainment and distribuited digital contents management.

Raster3D is a set of tools for generating high quality raster images of proteins or other molecules.
It uses an efficient software Z-buffer algorithm which is independent of any graphics hardware.

41. Summary and conclusions
GILDA is a real virtual laboratory for dissemination of grid computing:
It is a “de facto” standard t-Infrastructure adopted both by EGEE II and some forthcoming EU-FP6 projects (EELA, EUCHINAGRID, EUMEDGRID, ICEAGE)
It is a complete suite of grid elements (test-bed, CA, VO, monitoring system, web portal, virtual user interface, user interface plug&play) and applications fully dedicated to dissemination purposes and pre-porting of new applications to EGEE II Infrastructure
GILDA runs the latest production (stable) version of the EGEE II middleware, gLite, in order to make the transition to the new releases smoother and easier
