1 Math Class – Miss Purdue
April 20, 2017 Math Class – Miss Purdue

2 60-Second Prep Please open to your Triangle Reference Sheet If you have your SWYK signed, please place it in your class basket You must have your SWYK signed by tomorrow

3 GOals To reinforce our knowledge of triangles To practice making triangles using geoboards

4 Double-Checking our Reference Sheet
We are going to double-check that we have all the information we need for our reference sheets If you already have the notes taken down, please quietly study them while your classmates finish writing their own notes.

5 At the top of your sheet…

6 In the middle of your sheet…

7 At the bottom of your sheet

8 Warm-Up Quiz! Please turn to your “Math Warm Ups” section Please put your name at the top-left and the date at the top-right Please write the numbers 1 – 10 down the left-hand side

9 Quick reminder… What are the only three angles you need to think about when it comes to triangles? Right Angles, 90 degrees Acute Angles, less than 90 degrees Obtuse Angles, more than 90 degrees You won’t see any reflex or flat angles in this unit 

10 How the quiz is going to work
You will see a picture, and two options for answers You will need to pick the correct answer and write it down You will have 30 seconds to write down your answer

P. 202, Question #2

37 GeoBoards!

38 GeoBoards Each student is going to get their own geoboard to work with
You will each get one elastic band to work with Please only use the elastic to make triangles – this means it should stay on your geoboard at all times.

39 Practice making triangles!
Use your elastic band and the posts on the geoboard to make some triangles

40 Activity Please make a scalene triangle on your geoboard Then draw your triangle on the dot paper. Please use a ruler (or another straight edge) to connect the dots on your triangle Please save some room on your geoboard (and therefore, also on your dot paper) to put more triangles next to this scalene triangle.

41 Activity Now, make an isosceles triangle. Double-check that it is an isosceles triangle using a protractor and/or ruler. Finally, please draw it on your dot paper.

42 Activity Try making an equilateral triangle. If you think you have one, double-check it with a ruler and/or a protractor. Is it possible to make an equilateral triangle?

43 Please Flip your paper over 
Please repeat the process, but this time make: A right triangle An obtuse triangle An acute triangle Please draw these triangles on your dot paper.

44 Homework Problem of the Week
