If my thoughts are negative I am going to behave negative, choose the negative and reap the negative.

If my thoughts are based in faith (which is always positive) I am going to behave positive, choose the positive and reap the positive.

`Philippians 4:8 8 Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate (think) on these things. (NKJV)

Tool 1 – Logic ~ “Think” The word for (meditate) “think” used here in the original Greek is logivzesqe (logidsesthe) from which we get our English word “LOGIC”.

Tool 1 – Logic ~ “Think” THINK – Use Logic (logivzesqe) Control yourself through LOGIC and NOT EMOTION REDIRECT to healthy logical thinking instead of reacting with and being controlled by your emotions

The real stuff ~Not emotional distortions Focus thoughts away from illusions of anxiety and onto the truth Stand on the unchangeable truth of the Bible.

Nobel – The awe inspiring things that cause you to worship God.

Look for the noble in people, places and things, instead of looking for the ignoble. Look for what brings praise to God instead of what prompts criticism of people.

Tool 4 – Whatever’s Just or Right
Just –Do what is biblically “Just” or the right thing in the eyes of God. You are called to do the right thing even when your emotions want you to do something else.

True godly justice ALWAYS does the right thing according to God’s Law and ALWAYS does it with merciful caring love.

Meaning – to be pure or holy, a sign of the presence of the HOLY Spirit. Pure to the core or pure from the inside out because your thought life controls your lifestyle.

I Corinthians 6: Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually, sins against their own body. 19 Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; 20 you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.

Lovely – Greek word prosphile. Meaning – Lit. “Towards friendly”. Lovely in sense of loving “Think about” being friendly. Think about things that build relationships.

We need to be “lovely” here at church especially. Pros-phile towards friendship with each other. Especially welcoming new people. 2017 Our Purpose Driven Easter plans.

Tool 7 – of Good Report Whatever things of Good Report
Good report - Greek word euphema – eu- “well or good”, phema “saying or speech”, literally to bring to light The Greek word behind our English word “Euphemism”- To substitute nice words instead of harsh or offensive ones Go past thinking to speaking good Eph 4:29

Tool 7 – of Good Report Think about the good things people say.
Think in ways that promote your speaking positively Original meaning – “use words to good omen” Don’t quench the Spirit in the way you talk. Ephesians 4:29.

Your thoughts… will control your relationship destiny through your words, attitudes and actions. Homework… make a list of the good things about your spouse.

Tool 8 – Virtue If there is any “virtue” - Goodness and excellence
Greek word arête, related to “aristos” which means “the best” from which we get our word aristocracy. We need to look at people as if they are all the best.

Tool 8 – Virtue Meaning – Good quality of any kind.
Any excellence in a person The positive perspective. Look only for the good. Being positive instead of negative. Something good you can think about someone to change your perspective and feelings about them.

Tool 9 – Praiseworthy If there be anything Praiseworthy.
Meaning – Something you can talk positive about. Go beyond thinking into speaking positive. Note ~ internalize by thought (virtue) and verbalize (Praiseworthy).

Tool 9 – Praiseworthy God wants you to transform your positive thoughts into positive action words that you habitually use to change your character and ultimately your destiny

Tool 9 – Praiseworthy Thinking and speaking good thoughts creates flow throughout your brain that influence your perception, emotion and action.
