Curriculum Revised to meet 2016 Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) Competency Standards Includes 240 hour Internship Recognized by NCHEC Graduates eligible for CHES Exam Graduates prepared to work as Certified Health Education Specialists in various settings including but not limited to: Universities, Corporations, Health Departments, Volunteer agencies & Hospitals Graduates will address Health Disparities with their abilities to design, plan & implement quality health programming

Certified Health Education Specialist Exam Information: 7 Areas of Responsibility 36 Competencies 141 Sub-Competencies (Entry-level) CHES Seven Areas of Responsibility: Area I: Assess Needs, Resources and Capacity for Health Education/Promotion Area II: Plan Health Education/Promotion Area III: Implement Health Education/Promotion Area IV: Conduct Evaluation and Research Related to Health Education/Promotion Area V: Administer and Manage Health Education/Promotion Area VI: Serve as a Health Education/Promotion Resource Person Area VII: Communicate, Promote, and Advocate for Health, Health Education/Promotion, and the Profession

HHP Program Evaluation, Planning & Implementation Course: Senior Level Benchmark Course Students will: Assess Community Health Needs Design and Plan a Program to address the assessed needs Construct a Mock Grant Proposal for the designed Program

HHP 498 – Internship Course: Senior Level Course 240 Internship with Site Supervisors Placements Connect to Student’s Future Employment Goals Implemented in the 2016 Revision Process

Update and Revise the 2x2 Health Science Track Curriculum to include the WVSU Leadership Certificate Launch an Internship for the 2x2 Leadership in Allied Health & Rehabilitation Track Incorporate more community outreach activities into the Health Science Program experience
