Decolonization Worksheet and Word Art
On the back of the Decolonization handout, complete the assignment Decolonization word art by following these steps: 1. Write the word Decolonization as your title 2. Have a definition in your own words ( you may use the textbooks for assistance, but the definition should be in your own words) 3. Have examples of four countries that decolonized. Give the name of the country, which country was their imperial power, and how they gained their independence. You may use India and Ghana from the front of the handout. Imperialism Review Hand up stand up pair up: What is imperialism?
Which countries owned colonies? What was the benefit for those countries to own colonies? What types of specific resources are gained from colonies? What actions did the imperial powers use to keep their colonies? Do you think the number of colonies increased or decreased after WWI and WWII? How might WWI and WWII effect the ability of imperial powers to maintain ownership and control of their colonies? Imperialism Review

You will then create a visual to present that must include the following:
Name of the country The country that was the imperial power What the imperial power gained from that country How that country gained independence (you may have to use your electronic devices to research more information than the textbook has) and when What type of government the country currently has (democracy, dictatorship, communist, etc.) Group Activity

We will create a chart of what all the countries that decolonized and try to create a sort of shared history of how the world’s countries decolonized (common characteristics, etc) Presentations
