APCSS Library Support to Alumni
In order to support your research needs after graduation, the APCSS Library provides access to research databases at MERLN via the internet. This collection of research resources is called MERLN-Net. To get access to MERLN-Net, you must respond to the invitation from the APCSS Library, which you will receive a week after graduation. Your response should include your preferred address and the following statement: I would like MERLN-net access.

MERLN MiPALS – Military Policy Awareness Links
MERLN resources available include: These are collections of U.S. Government policy statements, national strategy documents, policy overviews, and global think tank and research institute analysis for the countries and topics listed. MiPAL Example For Syria
This example of a MiPAL of “Recently Added Documents” on Syria includes NGO analysis, press briefings, a fact sheet, government publications, and a CRS report.

White Papers On Defense
This file contains donated White Papers and National Security documents from over eighty countries. In this example, we see both current and archival defense documents from India, Indonesia and Japan.

MERLN Consortium Libraries Content
The Publications Collection provides access to the online content for some of the most prestigious military publications, including Naval War College Review, Air & Space Power Journal and Military Review. The Digital Collection includes student papers, lectures, conference proceedings, personal paper collections and report and legislation.

What is MERLN–Net? A portal to six (6) fee based resources and research databases developed and maintained by MERLN. APCSS pays for your access to these databases as an alumnus. To access, select the blue “BlackBoard” link on the main MERLN webpage

BlackBoard LogIn Page Log in using the username and password sent to you by APCSS Library staff in response to your . The password is a temporary one. It is highly recommended that you change it to something more secure. Contact the Library staff if you have any questions.

MERLN-Net Library Resources
General Research Databases ProQuest EBSCO Alumni Edition Both ProQuest and EBSCO provide access to diverse collections of newspapers and periodicals, which cover a wide range of topics. A researcher should be able to find articles on almost any subject.

Security Studies Databases CIAO – Provides access to publications not found in other commercial databases. It includes working papers from university research institutes, NGOs, research projects and case studies. These reports provide information that is more applications oriented.

Security Studies Databases Digital National Security Archive – Provides access to previously classified U.S. Government documents on key foreign policy topics now released for public use. Military Periscope – Provides force structure, weapon specifications and inventory of the armed forces for countries. It also provides defense news from open sources.
