National leaders in teaching and research, which feature prominently in international rankings (all of them included in the world Top 50 Under 50 of QS ranking 2015) Recognition of the four universities as Campuses of International Excellence by the Spanish Government A comprehensive academic offer, being in the top 10 position in Europe in several research fields

What is the Alliance 4 Universities?
Why these four universities? A-4U universities have a strong international focus with agreements with leading universities in the world 35% of graduate students are international students, and a large proportion of their faculty has had international exposure The four universities have scholarship programs for international master and PhD students. Officially supported by the Spanish Government through agreements with the Spanish Institute of Foreign Trade (ICEX).

A-4U Objectives Enhance the international mobility of students, researchers and academics Promote English-taught degrees offered by the A-4U universities Establish partnerships for research collaboration worldwide Raise the international profile of the A-4U universities

A-4U Joint Projects Advancement of European research activities through a permanent office in Brussels (OPERA), which facilitates the participation of A-4U researchers in European programmes and the influencing in European research policies Creation of an information database for the evaluation of research in Spanish universities, recognized by the Ministry of Education of Spain Offer of a joint undergraduate programme in Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE) since 2013 Development of a joint internationalisation strategy

Main activities in joint internationalisation Establishing relationships with leading universities in emerging markets’ countries (India, Brasil, Russia, South Africa, Turkey, Iran, Gulf countries). Participation in European programmes of worldwide international mobility Follow-up actions (signature of MoU; institutional visits to Spain; exploration of common areas of interest; organization of thematic conferences and seminars)

Joint Mobility Projects
Participation in European Programmes of International Mobility (K 107) A4U is leading an international mobility project under the Erasmus+ Framework, with universities from Russia and South Africa for the period The project manages 100 mobilities (incoming and outgoing), addressed at bachelor, master and PhD students, and faculty members (incoming and outgoing) A4U wishes to increase the number of mobility programmes with non-European countries
