Outdoor Dining Bylaw allows for premises such as cafés, restaurants, bars, or takeaways to apply for an outside seating area – which can create a vibrant hub to attract visitors. Such licences involve application to council, an inspection, and payment of fees For how long? Conditions? ‘Policing’ of such premises.

9 Outdoor Displays Outdoor displays are common throughout retail business areas. They are accommodated in the bylaw, but there is no application or fee. The general rule is 600mm from the building line. They can get out of hand…

11 Fundraising The Trading and Events in Public Places Bylaw 2015 permits registered charitable organisations to fundraise Licences are issued to registered charitable organisations to collect (shake and take) and ‘sign up’ - the latter are controlled through the PFRA Other fundraisers include schools, kindergartens, churches, etc. that raise funds by way of cake stalls, etc.

Most common sight is people handing out flyers and/or promotional goods in the streets As a general rule we don’t allow it but the new bylaw will accommodate it In the Auckland CBD certain spots have been designated as sites for such activity Can a Business Association for an area control this?
