Edgar Allan Poe: A History
Born in Boston to two actors. His mother and father were not that successful. His father left the family in 1810, and his mother died in 1811. He was taken in by John and Frances Allan. Went to the University of Virginia for one semester. Poe married Virginia Clemm and they were married for eleven years until she died. She was his cousin.

Poe’s stories Some of his most famous texts are: The Raven, The Black Cat, Ligeia, Annabel Lee, The Tell-Tale Heart, and The Fall of the House of Usher. He also is credited with the detective mystery and also became a big name in horror.

Poe’s death Poe was found in Baltimore by a newspaper typesetter wearing someone else’s clothes and unconscious. Poe was taken to a hospital and died on October 7, 1849 at the age of 40. His death remains a mystery to this day.

Horror Intended to frighten and scare us. Use suspension of disbelief.
