The DRC as a global supplier of cobalt
Over 40% of cobalt supply is used for batteries Demand is growing at over 5% pa 60% global cobalt comes from DRC Up to 20% of DRC cobalt is from artisanal and small-scale mining Over 60,000 miners in the DRC copper-cobalt sector (fluctuating seasonally and according to prices) Price increases are driving an uptick in artisanal production DRC will continue to be an important source into the future
