3 Background of the Company
Amazon.com is an international electronic company. Founded in 1994 in Seattle, Washington, united States by Jeff Bezos. It is the largest online company in the United States. It started as an online bookstore then the company added other items like clothes, CDs, furniture.. Amazon.com was named after the Amazon River which is also believed to have been named after the female Greek worriers. Although Amazon is associated with phenomenon things, Bezos decided to use it because the name would appear high in any alphabetically arranged list.

5 The Leader Jeff Bezos was born in Jeffrey Preston Jorgensen in New Mexico January 12, He graduated from Princeton with a degree in computer science and electronic engineering. Jeff Bezos owns and controls ten percent of the e-commerce in north America.

6 leadership styles: He's described as blunt but not cruel .
He takes risks that would motivate the workplace. Jeff encourage open communication among the workplace environment, even if it leads to disagreement.

7 Amazon has seven segment that include amazons corporate hierarchy:
Software development Retail product management and merchandising Information technology Operations and customer service Finance and administration Human Resources Legal operations

8 The problems Competition from other companies such as IBM, Joyneyt
new infrastructure providers such as Google are entering the marketing and challenging the providers of amazon.com such AWS hence increasing more problems for amazon.com Dented public image due to Unethical business practices Hachette’s lawsuit. Amazon wanted to sell the books produced by this publisher at a reduced prices with the aim of increasing sales. Online Competition

9 Short-term Solution Redesigning Amazon Web Services, in order to make it a faster for the consumers to search and to carry of transactions. Reducing costs and advertising themselves as the online bookstore of choice. Which was an advantage over other retailers such as Wal-Mart stores. The CEO managed to win the lawsuit , therefore it was a way forward.

10 Long-term Solution One of the solutions was to develop a foundation and establish their own infrastructures ( Amazon Web Services). Bezos captured the customer’s attention by branding Amazon as a market leader in selling books, he also branded it as the cheapest bookseller site. Maintaining its outward and global reach.

11 Summary Amazon's vision statement is as follows: "Our vision is to be earth's most customer centric company; to build a place where people can come to find and discover anything they might want to buy online." Amazon has defiantly reached their goal. The company has been in the market for over 10 years under the leading of its founder and CEO Jeff Bezos. Jeff Bezos has been able to overcome everything the company went through using his leadership skills and his understanding of the market.
