Fig. 5 Normal liver parenchyma with hepatocytes, sinusoids, and portal tracts were observed in the control (A, B) and MC-treated control (C, D) groups. Disorganization of hepatic cords, increased number of degenerated hepatocytes (arrowhead), fibrosis in the form of delicate bands around the acini and bile duct proliferation within the portal tract (*), and inflammatory cell infiltration (arrow) in parenchyma. (E, F) were seen in BDL group. Mild disorganization of hepatic cords, decrease in degenerated hepatocytes (arrowhead) and inflammatory cell infiltration, moderate fibrosis around the acini, and decreased bile duct proliferation (*) were observed in BDL + MC group (G, H).
