Folkway “Folkways are norms that describe socially acceptable behavior but do not have a great moral significance attached to them... They outline the common customs of everyday life.” Sometimes nonconformity is permitted because it won’t harm society’s structure. Failure to abide by the rules can result in a minor punishment (Thomas, 2010) (Unknown, Breaching)

In other countries, folkways are viewed differently What we might think is normal, they might view as strange People have their own moral values of right and wrong across the world (unknown, 2012)

The violation of rules endangers society’s structure Many mores have become laws There are serious punishments for violating mores “However, laws may also enforce less severe folkways, such as not parking in spaces reserved for drivers with disabilities.” (Thomas, 2010)
