Kwanzaa (n) an African American cultural celebration from Dec. 6- Jan. 1 as a celebration of their cultural heritage and traditional values.

Diwali (n) a Hindu festival of lights held in the period of October to November. It is associated with Lakshmi, the goddess of prosperity.

Hanukkah (n) a Jewish festival lasting 8 days from Dec. 25-Jan. 1. It celebrates the resurrection of the Holy Temple.

Ramadan (n) the ninth month of the Muslim year during which strict fasting is observed from sunrise to sunset and is considered a time of prayer, spiritual reflection, and charity.

Culture (n) the beliefs, customs, practices, and social behavior of a particular nation or people.

Omisoka (n) a Japanese New Year takes place on the last day of the year (December 31st). It celebrates the cleansing of the house and soul, and starting over with a brand new self.

Festival (n) a day or period of celebration, often one of religious or cultural significance

Generation (n) all of the people who were born at approximately the same time, or time period.

Holiday (n) A day off or a holy day observed for special significance.

Traditions (n) A long established pattern of behavior within an area, community, or family.
