2 Kwanzaa (n) an African American cultural celebration from Dec. 6- Jan. 1 as a celebration of their cultural heritage and traditional values.

3 Diwali (n) a Hindu festival of lights held in the period of October to November. It is associated with Lakshmi, the goddess of prosperity.

4 Hanukkah (n) a Jewish festival lasting 8 days from Dec. 25-Jan. 1. It celebrates the resurrection of the Holy Temple.

5 Ramadan (n) the ninth month of the Muslim year during which strict fasting is observed from sunrise to sunset and is considered a time of prayer, spiritual reflection, and charity.

6 Culture (n) the beliefs, customs, practices, and social behavior of a particular nation or people.

7 Omisoka (n) a Japanese New Year takes place on the last day of the year (December 31st). It celebrates the cleansing of the house and soul, and starting over with a brand new self.

8 Festival (n)  a day or period of celebration, often one of religious or cultural significance

9 Generation (n)  all of the people who were born at approximately the same time, or time period.

10 Holiday (n) A day off or a holy day observed for special significance.

11 Traditions (n) A long established pattern of behavior within an area, community, or family.
