Be at EVERY practice ON TIME Focus on what we are asking you to do 100% focus 100% effort Warm up as a team, Stretch as a team, Play as a team! JENISON PRIDE

7 Practices Practices Are mandatory.
If you are late due to school or an appointment (ie. test, help on material, dentist, etc.) you must bring a pass and give it to one of the coaches Go to and click on POOL CALENDAR to see the whole pool schedule. To see just water polo click on WATER POLO Please check this every Sunday (at a minimum)

8 Excused Practices School related (retaking a test, getting help from a teacher) – must bring a note to practice signed by the teacher Medical Sick/appointment – must bring a note back to practice from parent/doctor Please reschedule appointments if possible Family weddings/funerals – must be given advance notice (when possible) College Visits All excused absences must be made up ($2 at open swim) Excused Practices will affect playing time if what was missed was pertinent to the objectives of the current game This is not a punishment, but the way a team works when trying to meet a common goal Try not to miss practice Try really hard not to miss practice

9 Unexcused Practices 1 – Anything other than the above (slide) needs to be discussed with the head coaches 2 – Grandma’s birthday party is unexcused (so is your aunt’s, brother’s, and mother’s, unfortunately) 3 – All vacations are unexcused. Holiday situations are different and must be discussed with the head coaches We can help you find a local pool to train in if needed All unexcused absences must be made up ($2 at open swim) 1st unexcused absence will result in a warning and no competing at the next game 2nd unexcused absence will result in a meeting with the head coach and no competing at the next game 3rd unexcused absence will result in possible dismissal from the team. Unexcused absences must be made up at open swim ($2) in order to get back to good standing. It might take two open swim sessions to make up a long practice that was missed.

10 Playing Time Junior Varsity- We will try to play everyone, but will not guarantee any play time Emphasis will be on developing quality players to move on to the Varsity level We will compete to win games Varsity Level- Playing time will be earned every day at practice and games. We will not guarantee that everyone will play. There will be an emphasis on continuing to produce a winning program. Tournament rosters may vary due to number of games or who we are playing. We will post rosters as necessary.

11 Spectator Sportsmanship
Let the coaches coach, the players play, and the officials officiate. Let the coaches worry about the officials… If the coaches are not throwing their arms up yelling, the call was a good call whether it was for our team or the other team Remember, especially at our pool, YOU have the best view of the situation. Remember YOU are most likely watching your child every second of the game. Two officials have to watch all 14 players at a time, and make immediate calls on a very difficult sport to ref. Support the athletes and stay positive, even at the hardest times. That’s when it’s needed most! Thank you for being “Jenison.” If you would be interested in a “rules meeting” we can set one up!

12 Team Expectations Participation in interscholastic athletics is a privilege, not a right! Respect yourself, your teammates, your coaches, and your facility. Respect our opponents, their coaches, and their facility. TEAM comes first Team goals Individual goals Communication between player and coach is crucial for success Any concerns should be addressed to the coaches by the player first and if resolution is not found parents will be brought in. Always stay positive Always build up and support your teammates Work hard and stay mentally tough Social Media: If you do not have anything nice to say, do not say it at all. Negative social media feed will not be tolerated. Seniors Leaders in and out of the pool High expectations Monitor all locker room behavior (and are responsible)

13 Transportation We will travel to games as a team on a bus.
Dual games are drop off and ride home (Bus to and from) Many tournaments will be drop off only. Bus information will be very clear and noted on the tournament information sheet. If you cannot ride the bus home for any given circumstance, please let us know asap. This will need to get approved by the athletic department. Varsity will watch J.V. games when not warming up. J.V. will stay and watch Varsity games. No exceptions

14 Team Uniform Coaches & Seniors have met and selected a team suit, shirt, and headband. Uniforms are the same for both J.V. & Varsity. Suit: $48/player Shirt: $15/player Headband (for those who purchased): $10/headband Paper product fee: $5/player Cash or checks written to JPS will be accepted. Please give directly to Nicole or put in the black pool mailbox. Game Days Dress up for all AWAY games Wear Team T-shirt for all HOME games

15 Extra All players are fed an after game meal at most dual games (home and away). All players are fed at tournaments by a parent rotation. Deb Karasinksi put together a feeding schedule. The $5 paper product fee goes toward supplies (napkins, plates, forks, knives, etc.) All families must sign up with “sign-up genius” to work in the concession stand. Every family needs to sign up for 2-3 shifts. We get $100 for each team if we fulfill these requirements!  Marie Westra is our JV & Varsity Booster Rep
